Input on AT tires

From what I'm seeing online if i don't need the off road traction the off-road AT tires aren't really a good fit for me.
I'm trying to maintain on-road traction and add the 3PMSF for better winter traction. Any suggestions for that?

Yes. Several solutions have existed for a century and millions of people who live in showy climates rely on one or the other.

1. You run a snow tire for a few months during the peak of winter then switch back to your street tires during the rest of the year. Not as common as it was in the days of bias-ply tires since most of today's modern street tires provide more than adequate traction in snow.

2. You could run a snow tire year round but they are typically much higher priced and will wear faster as they are a softer rubber to provide better traction during cold weather. The Pirelli Scorpion Winter tire is rated for "severe snow service" but runs over $400 each.

3. Run street tires year round and turn on the 4 wheel drive during low traction highway conditions.

4. Run your street tires year round and spend about $130 for a set of tire chains for the extremely rare instance in which 4 wheel drive is not enough. Some states require them under certain circumstances anyway.

Look into on road A/T instead of off road A/T tires. I occasionally do off road stuff and hunting trips, but don't do any extreme stuff in this rig. We get a lot of snow and ice and I wanted something good in that, on muddy forest service roads, and a lot of highway trips.

Those Rocky Mountains I bought are the lightest A/T I found with less aggressive tread but they still look good and I was very impressed on this 1000 mile trip through a couple inches of snow, many miles of icy roads, and some muddy forest roads and fields in pursuit of elk. I have zero complaints on anything. The only thing that MAY make me unhappy with them is how many miles I get. But at the price I paid, if I get 30k out of them, I'll buy them again even though they claim 50k.
