I did a wire tap on my rearview mirror for my dash cam.

So there is 12v assuming up in the upper console? I got a 360c with a dash cam and it powers through so only need a single 12v

That's right, either overhead console or the mirror.

Is there anywhere to pull power for radar detector in the roof console?
It would be really easy to go from fuse F33 with an add-a-fuse and tuck the wire under the headliner. I did that with three wires from my dash cam and I did not have to remove any interior trim pieces.

Been a Valentine owner for 15+ years. It doesn't have any fancy GPS or anything like that. All it does is detect radar (&laser) and it does an excellent job at it. Mounted mine in the pocket just in front of the center speaker & pulled power from the 12v cigarette plug. Changed fuse to the switched position. Photo attached. VR.jpg

I have zero issues with false detection from the windshield camera/light sensor. Using Vortex Radar's recommended settings makes this a very quiet but extremely reliable detector.

**** I would hope so for 750 bucks!! Thanks man, appreciate your insight. I’ll be in the downtown Denver area so lots of possibilities for false alerts

I've had an R7 running for the last 2-3 weeks in downtown Denver and I do get a few K band signal alerts. Mostly from the same places, so I've marked them with my RD and it mutes when I go by them. I ran my RD for a week before I installed a blendmount and notice absolutely no difference. Just fyi.

You can just disable K band, I did on my R7. Semi blind spot monitors, speed signs, and radar cruise control all use K band, police are on Ka.

Loving my R7, I just wanted a simple self contained detector and this thing does the trick perfectly, the strength meter has worked flawlessly.

I ran power via a cord from my radar detector unit to the fuse box and plugged into a wire tap there. Sorry, I have no experience running the power directly from the rearview mirror.

I purchased a Uniden R7 on Dec 26,2021 and I just got back from the UPS store where I shipped it to Uniden to have the Warranty department look at it. It's not powering on. I've tried in two different vehicles and with multiple power sources. I'm not sure what the issue is but this is disappointing.

That sucks. I am completely hooked on my R3... Seriously looking at the R8.

I had the V1 for 12yrs till it died. Never had an issue other then false alerts due to blind spot sensors.
I now have the Uniden R7, and have 0 issues. It is hardwired to the fuse panel under the dash and "hidden", if you want to call it that. Its def saved my *** more times then I can count.
With my Tint, you cant see it from outside. Even with my windows down, if i turn the screen off, or to DIM, you dont notice its there.
Also, with my R7, I use Waze

...... I coupled it with the AL priority laser jamming system and defeat the lidar 100 percent of the time.
Be careful with that one. In some states they consider jammers as obstruction, and the LTI lasers (commonly used by police) tell them when it's been jammed. Other states have a flat out ban on jammers and/or detectors. For example, I think West Virginia is one that bans everything.
Point being, you want to check your state's laws (and those of any you're passing through) to see if you can use a detector, and look close for use of a jammer which may be under a different section than radar/laser stuff.

I ran escorts for years until Waze became a thing. Now I solely use Waze- it hasn’t let me down in 4 years.
Waze was going to be my suggestion. It works well, it's free and it's not illegal regardless of state.

That's all just my two cents though. I drive like a little old man so I don't worry if they're checking my speed or not.

So, Fedex just dropped off a package at my house and I wasn't expecting a delivery...it was my warranty repaired R7. I was out of town last week and wasn't able to check the status of the warranty claim. I was surprised the warranty work was done so quickly and I have received the unit back. It seems to function as new. I am impressed with the Uniden Customer service!
