If you've had the rear window leak...

This is a rather serious issue for them, as they've got class action litigation pending. Surely they cannot expect customers to foot the bill for this poor design.

I've got an appointment scheduled for this Monday with my local dealer; RamCares will assign a Case Specialist to review any cost allocation for my replacement. I'm curious as to whether they'll replace with a solid window, as I don't want this same slider reinstalled. Keeping my fingers crossed.

If it's worth anything; my replacement slider has been fine for the last 3 1/2yrs & 48K miles.

Glad to hear yours has held up. My replacement only lasted 14 months/15,000 miles. Too high of a probability of failure to let them replace with the same design.

Heard from the service advisor, they are not replacing the glass at all, but having the leak “fixed” by a local glass guy.

I personally don’t care as long as it does not leak, but the engineers that worked on that design needs to adjustment, **** poor.

Most dealers don't do any glass replacement. They always ship it out to a glass shop. That's why it takes days. the replacement take a couple hours, but they either drive it to the glass shop, wait for repair, and then pick up and tell you it is done, or call the glass shop and wait til they show up to do the repair, depending on what work needs to be done.

If someone wanted to preemptively replace the sliding rear glass with a solid piece, does anyone know the cost associated with it?

I have an appointment for my window on 5/30 as my replacement is now cracked....ugh. My warranty is up on June 30th....cutting it closeo_O

$612 from Safelite to replace with a solid window in my 2019 Bighorn

Is that with or without rear defogger, for those interested?

Without, I believe. Haven't pulled the trigger yet, waiting to see if corporate will cover the replacement once my dealer verfies my leak.

I sort of doubt they will. Generally they can only replace with the same part. It's always possible, but don't hold your breath.

If that's the case I'd rather pay out of pocket. I won't let them install the same defective window.

Even if the added rear defogger brings it to $800, that's really not too bad. Looks cleaner IMO, and keeps everything water tight. Once I pull the trigger on my Ram, I'm going to have this done.

I'm probably lucky if I open it two or three times a year.

Waiting for my window to come in so it will be fixed under warranty. I wish they would've let my go with the non-slider. I'll just keep an eye on it and when/if it leaks again I'll likely pay out of pocket for the non-slider. A guy at my work has a 2019 and says it doesn't leak. So maybe some good ones get through without leaking.

They build almost 1,000 a day. There are hundreds of thousands that don't leak. The only posts are from the ones that do.

Well mine has twice. I'm not taking that chance again. It's a bad design.

I don't disagree there. Everyone I know has been lucky. They have never had one more than 3 years either.

My orginal window lasted 4 years, replacement is 3 months old so far and so far so good. It does not have the original mold seams where the cracks form but that's not to say it still won't crack. If I get a few years out of it will be enough to last for as long as I plan to keep the truck.
