I have a 2021 RAM 1500 Limited with Ramboxes. Shortly after I purchased it (in 2021) the left Rambox started popping open by itself. I unplugged the connector at the latch to stop it from happening. About two weeks later I decided to plug it back in and see what happened. That was 4 years ago. It never popped open again…until recently.

About a month ago it started popping open again. I tried unplugging the connector again for a couple of weeks but the problem still exist.

While searching the problem and solutions on this site, I came across several comments about a “Jumper harness.” I have since ordered and received the harness.

My question is: Do I simply remove the old harness and replace it with the jumper harness and the problem is solved?

Thanks.

I'm sure you're going to find this truly sad....I"ve had the harness since June but have not gotten around to installing it!

When I do get "around-to-it", I will update this thread and report the results. (y)

not sure if this is a permanent fix but... 2 weeks ago, after going thru one of those automated car wash, my left rambox started behaving randomly!! different behavior everyday for a week. it went from the box opening whenever it wants (even going 70 mph on the freeway), to opening after starting the truck, to opening after I shutdown the truck, and every 5 sec or 1 minute after shutdown. it even opened when the back passenger door opened. I resorted to electrically disconnecting it for a few days.

last weekend, I removed the connector (circled in red) that connects the box to the truck and didn't find anything odd, sprayed a lot alcohol in the connector (both ends), air dried for a few hours, applied some dielectric grease (both ends), reconnected. the light in the box and the latch didn't work... I thought - FACK!! I started the truck, turned it off... everything worked as before. it's been a few days, no more gremlins. I'm going thru the car wash again soon... we'll see.
