I have a 2019 gen 5 Ram. It is 5 years old and has 55k miles on it.
For some reason the USB panel (Also has c type cable plugs and a headphone looking jack). The panel seems to be dead. No matter where I plug in, I can't talk to truck or charge my phone. I am guessing the small panel next to the CD player is dead. I found a video of a guy with the same problem. He ordered the part, tore his center console out and replaced the part. He put it back together and it still has no power. No resolution.

Can anyone shed some light on this. The other USB ports do not talk to android auto.

I would replace the panel but not confident that will solve it.
Anyone had this problem? Did you get it fixed? What was the solution? If you bought a part, what did you get?

Please advise.

Stupid question. Did you check the fuse in your internal power distribution center? Fuse F43, I think.

Not stupid at all. NO, I did not. However, in my defense I am waiting for my son to come and crawl around with a meter and see what he can find. I am not physically able to do so (this is my excuse for not checking the fuse).

Thanks for providing the fuse location, it will speed things up a bit. I'll post if/when I get this figured out.

My son hasn't made it over yet but today, it works. I got in the truck and my phone said android auto is available, plug in now. I did and it works. So I guess my question is changing from not working to intermittent working. I'll start my web search for that but if anyone has other suggestions, please advise.

Thanks to all who help here and not just those helping me.

Well then I would guess at a loose connection somewhere, if it works intermittently. I’ve seen reports of the USB ports not working temporarily after baking in the hot sun too.

My USB’s are fickle after baking in the sun. Usually they work after a short drive with AC on.

Since it was 106 today and hotter the last weeks, could be an issue but what could the heat be doing that goes back to normal when cooled off?

I’m the wrong guy to answer this, but my guess is that there is overheat protection on the USB circuitry. Same as in a computer or even your phone. Disables itself if it senses that it is too hot.

If heat makes it stop working then it’s the USB hub. I changed mine with a newer part number and it’s all good now.

Guess if we get a cool day I could watch it and see when it goes out. Unfortunately my garage is not climate controlled or I could test this. I will try to keep track of when it works and doesn't work.

Don't suppose you have that part number do you?

I will check with the dealer nearby when I take my truck in to get both exhaust manifolds replaced due to them breaking in half. They said it was not covered but I am getting this done under warranty due to wording in their contract I used against them. They will probably change that soon.

Anyway, There is a pretty helpful mechanic there so I'll ask him to find out if the USB problem is a known thing to them and ask what the fix is.
