Hurricane Gas mileage

there is only so much energy in a gallon of gasoline so taking energy = HP into account all things being equal a 400hp 4 cylinder a 400hp 6 and a 400hp 8 will get similar MPG'S....... the 420hp hurricane was never going to do any better than the hemi mpg wise and these truck's are pushing almost 3 tons gvw. they actually do pretty well.
i'm 56 back in the day a Chevelle SS396 with the same hp as a hurricane weighed less was a beast to drive and got like 10 mpg on a good day. we used to say we could pass anything but a gas station.....

Haha well said. I will add that when it comes to forced induction things do change. Throw into the equation that the Hurricane is a tiny 3.0 and it gets interesting. It is possible to get better milage in the right conditions (low load) but on the flip side heavy loads = boost and boost drinks fuel. I find under normal throttle the Hurricane does get slightly better milage than the hemi. Drive like an 85 year old headed to church and it can actually get much better than the hemi, drive it like its opening day at the track and that thing can suck fuel like no hemi 5.7 I’ve ever owned.
