How to watch movies 12in screen ?

I have a 2020 ram with the 12in screen
And I’m wondering if there is a way to watch movies and yes obviously when parked or for passengers only…

Can it be used while driving? For my passengers only obviously, they should of had this built into it in the first place

I'm pretty sure it can be used while driving. The company just has to give the disclaimer to limit their own liability.

It works well. a little glitchy at times, but overall it's good. To be clear, you can only watch on the top portion of the 12" screen

Edit: I just chatted with them, and they said to check back in two weeks. I’m not sure if that means something will be released in two weeks, or if they just want me to keep checking back until I see one’s available.

If so, I wouldn't mind getting one of these for myself. Screw the passengers! It's so annoying trying to stream from my cell phone while driving. Especially when I keep getting interrupting text messages and alerts sent to my phone that I have to respond to .

I’ve done a few ‘mods’ to try to make it work and for me and my family this was the best option…. Heavy duty magnetic/suction cup iPad mount and streamed audio through the stereo. Zero issues and looked cool too….. and I was able to continue using my main 12” for mapping, etc…

Doesn't matter if it is uconnect4 or 5, if it has apple car play it should work.

From a hardware interface side, I do not agree with that statement. The box is what’s talking to uconnect at that point. UConnect5 is different hardware and operating system than uconnect4.

This seems like a great solution, for those with the sunroof. I haven't found a suction cup that sticks to my head liner yet.

Doesn't Uconnect5 already have wireless Android Auto built in?

It has android auto and CarPlay, but once you put the box in the equation, you are no longer using the uConnect5 android auto or CarPlay interface. You are connecting to the streaming box, which interfaces with Uconnect. There are going to be different GCC interfacing involved since the hardware and software are different in the Uconnect versions. Basically, they have to write the code a little differently.

Well, I can still return it but would lose 10% for restocking plus the shipping costs...so I think $250 shipped. I have an email from the company stating the 90 day warranty would be in effect if I did sell it. (warranty til March 21st)

I know it's not a tremendous bargain, but you'd pay 279 +tax if you buy from them. It is currently three weeks old. I would have to ship by Monday or Tuesday at the latest if I return it, so if someone wants it let me know.

I tried the Ottocast and found it worked pretty well overall however it stayed on due to the power being on to the usb connections in the main console. My phone would then randomly try and connect despite the truck being off and parked in my driveway. I ended figuring out the power to the usb in the armrest turned off and used that for where to locate it. Worked fine from that point.
