Anybody do the front body mounts. Easy or no so? Pop on and off? Is there any videos of this. I can't find any on 5th gen. Thanks
The fella in the video said they changed them all after 2021 or so. I have a 23 so i assume i already have the current upper mounts im not positive My issues is related to the body mounts, but I’m becoming more suspect. My truck was in an accident and while it was being repaired, the frame cracked…so the shop had to replace the entire frame. So there is always a chance one of the mounts has since come a little loose. It's not just the lower portion of the mount that needs replacing. The top portion is redesigned with rubber isolation surrounding the bolt hole. The current mount has isolation only in 2 places, causing the metal sides to impact each other during articulation, causing the clunk.
The best way to do it is to loosen all frame bolts (8 of them), then remove the A pillar and B pillar bolt on one side only. Then using a jack, lift up the body of the truck off the frame high enough to slide out the top half of the mount. Put that side back together, do the same on the other side, then torque all 8 bolts.
It's really simple and takes less than 10 minutes per side if you have all the tools already set up. Start to finish should be less than 40 minutes. It's that simple.
How does this work with the mopar power running boards? Do those have to come off to do the body mounts? It's not just the lower portion of the mount that needs replacing. If they’re mounted like any other running board they shouldn’t be in the way…but i dont have them so I’m not sure where or what they cover when they fold up. I think if nothing else you would just need to locate where the power wire runs and make sure it has enough slack to allow you to lift up the body during the replacement process. How does this work with the mopar power running boards? I’m thinking more about if I can jack up the body. I’ll have to look at where they cover. If they’re mounted like any other running board they shouldn’t be in the way…but i dont have them so I’m not sure where or what they cover when they fold up.
