I posted a pic of my truck on FB and someone said they would NEVER buy a 2 door 4th gen. I thought it was a 5 but started reading now I am not sure.

That's a 4th gen.

From your pictures that is a 4th gen. I am pretty sure 5th Gen's don't come in 2 door. Plus the 5 gen head lights and grill are different.

5th gen is the new body style. You have a ram classic.

OP why was it the person was saying they would never buy a 2 door 4th gen ?

Since it was a 5th gen Group that same *** probably said the same thing to someone who posted there with a Warlock.

I am anxiously awaiting to see a 5th Gen regular cab...if the classic ever stops selling

There is nothing wrong with a 4th Gen 2 door...they look awesome

Another dead give away is the 5g badging is on the hood while the 4g badging is on the sides of the front panels. Were you told it was a 5g when you bought it?

The badging on your truck also says “classic”. Classic are 4th gen trucks that have continued production since the 5th gen came out.

Nothing wrong with 4th gen Rams though. They’re good trucks and you have yourself a nice looking one.

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your new truck . There’s nothing wrong with the 4th gen , I had 2 of them before I got my 5th gen . I have never had a problem with any of them .

The previously mentioned items for identification are all correct.

In addition, 4th gen Ram 1500s (2009-2019) are product code DS, while the 5th gen 1500 is product code DT.

As of today, if the 11th digit in the VIN is the letter "N" (Sterling Heights Assembly Plant), it is a 5th gen 1500 since no trucks have previously been assembled at Sterling Heights.

4th gen Rams will either have a "S" (Saltillo, Mex) or a "W" (Warren Assembly) as the 11th digit.

Best regards,
Dusty

I always look for the radio antenna on the front passenger wheel well/hood. Usually a quick glance and i can tell driving down the road.

Don't listen to them. 4th gens are great trucks. And yours is a beauty!

That's a 4th gen...and a cool one!

That's gotta be one quick truck! Happen to know what gear ratio you have?

I've always thought the regular cab short bed trucks have a great look.
