Here update date on engine
I am thinking real hard about trade truck in once I get it back this would been my 4th hemi never had issue till now. I am not sure if I take hit with new motor I lost all confidence on hemi motor now. Tomorrow be week since they open up case on powertrain warranty . I have no update where it going .I do know rent car more than truck note.

You should be covered as long as you have maintenance records and were using the correct oil. I can understand losing confidence in any engine that has failed on you, but every engine made has the potential for this to happen. You said you’ve had other Hemi engines without issue. And it’s likely a replacement engine would last you for years. But if you’re not confident in a vehicle there is no reason to keep it.

Just went through a 4 month wait to get my motor replaced. Lost some faith as there were no indications of any issues and nothing I can do to stop it from happening again. I have it back since Sept. 28th and have put a few miles on it. Happy to have it back, kind of like having a fight with your girl friend. Not looking to replace my Ram.

Get it back and drive around for a while before even thinking about it. What would you get to replace the Ram?

Looking at the ford's or Toyota.

FWIW I have F250s as work trucks and EVERY SINGLE ONE has transmission problems at 45-60k miles and nearly half have had significant engine issues at the 70-80k mark. Anecdotal I know, but when I was recently going through some BS with my own ram and was spiraling down the replace or not path of thinking the experience I have with Ford kept them off my short list. I tend to try and tell myself that the grass isnt always greener, and it may look greener because im not standing over there.

Why trade it? It'll have a new engine.

Any motor can grenade, but very very few do. We all buy the ticket and play the lottery with any vehicle.

Does anyone know since my pickup cover under powertrain warranty would they pay for car rental?

Engine toast something happen in block antifreeze mix with oil. Dealership warranty guy said 95 %sure powertrain will honor it.

Unless you really like what the other manufacturers are offering, and want to take a bath on your truck’s trade value, I’d be keeping what you have with a (probable) new engine. Ferd, Toyo and bow tie are all having significant issues, though Toyo has stepped up finally.

GM’s are eating lifters left and tight while Ferd seems to have forgotten how to properly assemble a truck, according to their forums and many news articles. Before you jump ship, spend some time on YT and the competing forums.

My neighbor traded-off his 160K 2016 hemi with an atrocious tick and got a 2024 Chev custom trim 1500 with the little turbo 4. While the truck is nice, the engine is averaging 15 mpg combined as the turbo is almost always engaged trying to move the truck… I can’t recommend that one.

Jeez!!!
That cylinder drop a valve or get hydrolocked somehow??
The conn rod snapped off near the base, but broken into multiple pieces..and the pistons is destroyed!
That's usually HIGH rpm kinda damage right there.
What happened right before it blew??

I just dumped a batch of $ into a 1990 Celica with 193K, stopped all the oil leaks. I don't drive it that much but does come in handy depending on circumstances, really nice on the highway, a little sluggish tranny till warmed up. I know what I have. Still get a thumbs up once in a while. I guess some folks have fond memories and appreciate an old vehicle still running.
