Help with 12” volume going up automatically

If I plug in my iPhone, play XM radio, the volume goes all the way up automatically. I turn it down but it keeps going back up. Does anyone know a fix?

Hmmm, not the same but I had something similar happen when I changed the song with the button behind the steering wheel and also adjusted the volume while the track was changing. Got stuck with the volume continually going up, couldn't turn it down with any knob or button, and had to restart the truck to get it back to normal.
