The GPS has not been working properly for a while now, and it's causing a lot of inconvenience. It often shows our truck in the wrong location. Sometimes it places us miles away from our actual position and sometimes it just places us at home address. We frequently lose the GPS signal, even in areas where we've never had issues before. Interestingly, the GPS does work correctly sometimes, but it seems to have problems with locating us most of the time. I took the truck to the dealer, and they told me there’s nothing wrong with the hardware. They suspect it might be a software issue, but they aren't able to do anything with the software. They advised me to wait for a software update. I took the truck to the dealer, and they told me there’s nothing wrong with the hardware. Possibly the cellular radio card has failed. In the uconnect 4 system, the cellular radio is inside head unit module. The cellular radio is in a separate telematics module behind the glovebox in the uconnect 5 system. If the cellular radio is bad a Ram dealer will replace the head unit module entirely.
Other users have opened up the yconnect 4 head unit module and changed the cellular radio card and have restored GPS operation.
One note: you can get more accurate feedback if you add your truck to your signature, see my signature below, the model year would indicate whether it is uconnect 4 or 5.
Other causes of no GPS, is a damaged or disconnected antenna (the shark fin on the roof).
Good luck
