fuel economy

We just completed a 500 mile trip at 75 MPH, 4 people, two dogs, plus gear. So figure about 600lbs of people and gear. 17.59 MPG calculated by hand. By myself going 80 MPH on the reverse route of this same trip I got 18.3. 420 HP engine pushing a 5400lb vehicle...that seems about right. Also I run 87 octane.

I'm on average of 17ish through all my mixed driving. I can't complain though I take my dog every day to the park that is a mile away. I haven't driven a long stretch of highway again since putting on the factory 22's, but I feel like these things affected my mileage a bit. I'm on 3.92's and a 33 gallon tank.

My latest tank was 16.0 mpg hand calculated using premium fuel which matched what the truck showed too.

I’m at just over 13 mpg hand. Calculated. Running premium fuel 93 octane. Run the same route every day. About a 30 mile loop. No start and stop driving average mph is 45-50 no heavy foot easy driving in auto mode. My 5.7 hemi. On the same route with all the same habits. Was getting 16 plus hand calculated I’m at 1900 miles now Not has been consistently awful Truck seems to run ok

So, I found on mine... and one other user confirmed their as well.. it doesn't matter if you are in 4wd or 2wd.. the offroad pages shows that the transfer case is locked... I put a camera under my truck and tested.. sure enough it is turning everything out to the hubs no matter the mode. This would certainly affect MPG! I called ram as my dealer just told me they didn't know... and RAM said yes, that is not working properly and I should take it in... but if it's all of them it's larger than what the dealer will be able to fix on a visit.

Mine shows locked too no matter 2WD or 4WD. With the truck parked in 2WD I can spin the front drive shaft by hand so the transfer case is not locked.

That's interesting.. I used a camera and drove back/forward.. front drive shaft turns no matter the mode.. it should not turn when in 2wd

Try to spin the front driveshaft by hand when it's parked. My 2024 Wrangler Rubicon when parked in 2WD I cannot spin the front driveshaft by hand but I can for the Rebel.
