Both Folding Mirrors started making clicking noise when folding out or in. Sounds like the gears where striping. Sometimes they would work and then not work. Had both mirrors replaced today hope this solves the problem

About half the time my driver's side mirror "slips" and grinds and clicks while trying to fold in, then the mechanism tries again once or twice, and the mirror just flops loosely. I can usually fix it by hitting the power folding button again to extend, then again to retract again. Haven't taken it in yet.

Thanks, I plan to have the dealer look at it at my first oil change. Here's what it does:

I test drove several Longhorns and Limiteds before I bought my truck, and quite a few of them had this issue with the folding mirrors. I wound up getting a truck with the Tow Package (that's a whole different conversation) and based on the number of posts I see about this issue, I'm starting to think I may have dodged a bullet not having this feature.

Unfortunately I park in enough tight spaces that the power folding mirrors are almost essential to me. But beyond that, my truck does not have all that many "bells and whistles"...no parking sensors, no BSM, no adaptive cruise, no rain sensors...etc. For a Laramie trim, I still think some of these things should have been standard. But with as quirky as these trucks are (and based on stories from friends who have owned Rams in the past and their electrical gremlins), I've come around to the idea that the fewer options you have on these trucks, at least the ones that could be prone to breaking down, the better for your sanity.

I fold my mirrors in whenever I park, including in my garage. I also am VERY happy to have the surround-view camera system, which I would have had to give up if I had opted for the tow mirrors. My solution to the potential for electrical failure (albeit an expensive one) was to purchase a lifetime warranty. Time will tell if it was a worthwhile purchase.

My experience having owned 3 FCA vehicles is that an extended (or lifetime) warranty is not a bad move. Of course that doesn't always mean an easy road to repair...

Good luck they finally replaced both of mine different times. I am very disappointed with Ram Customer Care and the dealer John Heister.

I am just under 2months of purchase and my mirrors do not work correctly. The passenger side works the best but not always. The driver side pretty much doesn't fold at all on its own and doesn't sit firm back in position after folding it in and out manually. Very annoying to be happening with a brand new truck.

Hi DHawk,

We regret to hear of the trouble you are experiencing with your new truck, your sentiments expressed here are certainly understandable. To clarify, have you brought this to the attention of your selling dealership? If not, we kindly recommend doing so as they are in the best position to provide assistance. Our team is just a PM away if you are in need of any assistance with that process.

Mine have always worked properly and I fold them in often to ensure wife doesn't rip them off going by the Ram into the garage with her SUV. But to be honest the noise they make while folding in and out doesn't give me much faith in longevity.

If Infotainment were to sell a kit with ALLthe cameras the Tow Package deletes (sides and front), I would GLADLY pay, even if it.meant replacing the whole front grill. Adding power folding mirrors is great, but why not go all the way and add the cameras?

Well my passenger side power folding mirror is now doing the double click and reset twice when folding out then stopping. It looks like it's in proper spot but tries to slight motion reset twice anyway.
Poor design and parts usage. I knew the mechanism wasn't long for this world day one.

Looks like once again I'm following in the footsteps of others with early build issues. My passenger's side mirror started to fail last week. It now folds maybe once every two to three attempts, and makes a terrible noise while "popping" into place. I think it's self-destructing. I just had my truck in the shop too. Guess I'll hit them up at the 20k oil change.

Recently had my passenger mirror replaced as it stopped folding entirely and was loose. The driver side is now popping and grinding, but still folds in. I am taking it in soon to get it replaced as well. Thankfully, the service manager at my service dealership is a nice guy and is easy to work with. (I know, I'm lucky) :)

RamCares, it is good to see that you guys are sorry to hear this. However, this issue seems to be widespread. I just called Ram Care and filed a complaint on this issue. My passenger mirror was doing this very thing. I tried to sync it back up according to the owner's manual, it caused the driver side mirror to start doing the exact same thing. I took it to the dealership. The service manager told me that these mirrors are NOT designed to be manually pushed in or out even though the owner's manual explicitly states to do so. They are replacing both mirrors. A STAR report was entered on this. My issue is not having to get them replaced, but more of HOW MANY TIMES will they need to be replaced? If manually pushing these mirrors in our out causes these to do this, it seems that the internal gearing is cheap and definitely not durable enough to be used. We spend entirely too much money on these trucks to have something as small as this be such a major annoyance. I am a Ram loyalist. However, I can tell you that if the dealership swaps out these mirrors in 5-7 days as they say they will, and either mirror does this again, I won't be getting these types of upgrades from Ram. Take the time and get the gearing fixed correctly. Put a more durable gear setup in these so they can hold up or quit selling the upgrade and stick to the basics.
