I dont even know where to start.... list of issues since i bought this truck in Sept of 19.

Tailgate wouldnt open after bed liner they installed....took 8 hours to fix and a day our of work. Was just a wire that got disconnected.
Driver side door would randomly lock me out and i couldnt open it manually or automatically, had to climb into passenger side. this was in an out of shop multiple times and days lost from work. While it was at the dealership getting worked on, someone did not put the emergency brake on a jeep uphill and it backed down into my truck and they had to replace the bumper.....i think that took at least a week or more. SMDH
Sun visor snapped......should have taken an hour or two but dealer had to order part. In the shop for at least two days.
Squeaky brakes since i have owned it and when it was in the shop for two days or more they only partly fixed it because it still squeaks just not as bad. I think they only replaced pads not rotors. Still to this day squeaks.
Side mirror motor on driver side stopped working and had to get that replaced....multiple days out.
Tailgate still wont open easily, have to fiddle with it. PITA.
There is a horrible whistle when windy and going fast. So annoying but what can you do?
And the last and final straw... it is now in the shop for at least week because there is a leak in the headliner in the windshield somewhere. They had to take the windshield out and they have to order a new headliner because the old one has water stains. They have to order the headliner.

I know there are more issues but I just cant remember them all.

Meanwhile they have me in a stupid soccer mom minivan rental car....i should have at least got another truck. Its like insult to injury. I am just at my wits end. Im sure someone from RAM care will reach out and we will talk, but barring giving me a new (er) truck....I will probably try to off load it. Just way too much of my time has been spent dropping off and picking up this truck from dealerships. Its so ridiculous, i tell the dealer my problem, they have it all day to figure out the same thing i told them , they dont fix it because they have to order the part and then i have to bring it back in to fix it when the part comes in. Every time its at least 2 days with out the truck minimum. Sucks to because i want to love this truck, has some great features. The other problem is none of this stuff is mechanical or engine related....its all stupid sh#t that sometimes is hard to diagnose because the shop cant replicate the issue. My bad for buying a new model year truck. I just think i got a bad one and had some bad luck. Conservative estimate...this truck has been in the shop at least 30 days since I have owned it and I have lost many hours of work and had to take Uber to work sometimes or take vacation time.

What would you do?

Sounds like you got a bad one, I've had a couple minor issues and it is a pain to drop off the truck and then have to bring it back again. One reason I like to keep a newer vehicle is to avoid wasting time going to the shop all the time for repairs. If I had as many issues as you I would probably looking to unload it as well.

Darn we are twins, that really sucks and I can see why you want to make it disappear. Around here ( New Jersey ) trucks are kings so they hold a pretty decent resale value unless you sell to the dealership. If that’s the case they want you to pay them for taking it in on trade sadly. :(

I know, they want you to take a beating on the trade in.

Lemon Law it, move on.

Talk to the service manager first, tell them you want a replacement truck, covered payments, better loaner, extended warranties, etc. under goodwill and to open a case otherwise you will pursue Lemon Law.

Sometimes they come through. I always ask nice first before I go legal.

Looks like 24 months in florida but I purchased it in Colorado and some of the repairs were made there too. Just enough to complicate things. SMDH

You have the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act, AKA the federal lemon law. it has way more teeth and much better compensation and less BS but more costs and waiting than a state lemon law claim. It applies so long as any warranty whatsoever is still in force. You can file in state court, doesn't need to be federal.

Sorry to hear you’ve had these many issues. I had the leak issue and the back window and break light had to be replaced, they didn’t figure this out right away so they first replaced the front windshield. Truck was at the dealer twice and had to wait for almost two weeks.

i would Just trade it in with all the issues you’ve come across that clearly are from the manufacturer. I would take all the proof I have of all the repairs that have been made and hopefully work something out that benefits me the most.

DO NOT TRADE IT IN or do a pull ahead or anything that costs you money. Thays stupid and lets the dealer get away with it. The law is on your side. Make them fix it and throw in a TON of extras or buyback your truck or replace it.
It should not be a trade. It should be a deal unwind like you never bought the truck. You get everything back, all interest, taxes warranties everything. The other option is a vin swap on loan with a replacement truck and a usage fee which you can negotiate. You keep the same loan and payment and principle.

If you have all your documentation, you will win and get paid. I've been there. Dont roll over and be a sucker and trade the truck.

I will look into it thanks. My biggest issue is the dealer is in Colorado and I live in Florida now. So that will make it tougher

Keep us posted. While a majority of owners don’t have those issues, there’s always some that do. Sucks for the one who does. Follow Aseras advice and pursue your options. Just be careful about jumping to other brands, everyone has something wrong, after all a new truck is a complicated electronic and mechanical item.

Hi @griggs - I would be more than happy to escalate a case on your behalf to a specialist so that you can discuss next best steps as you work with your dealer. Our team is just a private message away to get the process started.

Honestly, my truck had a TON of problems the first year. I found a good service department and kept taking it back. Everything was fixed under warranty. There is no permanent fix for brake noise though; I had all the TSBs done and it still happens.

  • The customer may comment on the following: A high pitch “squeal” originating from the rear brakes, often occurring in cold, humid weather and when driving in reverse, after the vehicle has been sitting for at least a few hours. Very often, the noise can be heard in the morning, when backing out of a driveway.

  • The customer may notice when closing the rear (one or both) windows: One or both may bind when closing. Squeak/squeal noise when closing. Pinched or rolled seal. Wind noise when driving.

The air noise can also be caused by misaligned doors (causing the door gasket not to seal properly). You have to loosen the door hinge bolts and adjust the door until you get a complete seal. Obviously the dealer should be handling that but you can do it if you feel up to it.

As for the lemon law, if you're not confident then just hire a lemon law lawyer. They should know enough to get you into a new truck. I would definitely do that before trading the lemon in and costing yourself a ton of money.

That's too bad about all those problems. I'm not sure from reading your message, but it sounds like these issues come up individually, meaning one at a time.

I don't recall hearing or reading about a leak at the windshields. The rear of my headliner has been stained and cleaned twice and looked just like new. I'm surprised they have to replace the headliner.

As far as waiting for parts, this is a industry problem regardless of make. Dealers don't stock what they use to and depend more on distribution centers, although they typically never stocked glass, body, or trim pieces. I've got a neighbor who's been waiting two weeks for a cylinder head for their Escape!

Better luck going forward.

Best regards,
Dusty
