I noticed rattle sound during cold start from the drivers side wheel well. The rattling lowered at operating temperature but I could still hear the rattle & whistle( exhaust fumes). So I scheduled a visit with my local dealer. Dealer said my exhaust manifold was cracked. He also stated that the bolts commonly break, but this time, the manifold was cracked?

The replacement is backordered until the 28th of April.

Has anyone else had this issue?

Def not a common issue for manifold cracking. It does happen, just not so low of mileage.

Man sorry to hear that. Def not normal for the manifold to crack but weird things happen I guess. I had studs break off the manifold on my 4th gen around 60k, which is very common apparently. I'm hoping they used better studs on these 5th gens. Time will tell I guess. Hope all works out for you.

Yea some of my manifold bolts broke off on both sides of my 4th gen too. Sounded like crap until I fixed it. No cracked manifold though.

Hopefully it was a defect from the factory and not common. I‘ll give the dealer a call after the 28th and see what happens.

4th 5th gen manifolds are different. Either way same basic design. Sure cracked manifold isn’t a gen issue. Only time will twll

Yes I have the same issue. I have been waiting for a new manifold ordered by the dealer for 8 weeks so far and still have not heard anything. I have contacted them several times and they say it is on back order. My truck only has 20,000 miles on it.

I apologize for the delay you are experiencing, @R Luzb. If it would be of interest, I would be happy to escalate a case on your behalf to a specialist who can work alongside your dealer to try and get the part in as soon as possible. Our team is just a private message away to get the process started.

Mine has 37k miles and needed both manifolds replaced, both was cracked. Now I feel they did a crappy job, took 6 weeks in shop. No communication at all, I had to actually show them that there was an exhaust leak. My service center is the worst.

I have a similar sound but think mine is lifters. Hope to bring it in this week.

I’m going thru the same issue. On cold starts I can hear the ticking sound for about 10 seconds. Not sure if it’s the lifters or manifold. Also when I drive next to a wall I can hear the ticking noise on the passenger side.

I have a 2019 Hemi right manifold cracked at 20,000 miles and the left cracked at 35,897 miles...thank God as my warranty was up in 103 miles. I too feel it should not have happened at such low mileage...let alone TWICE and BOTH sides. What makes me mad is there is no warranty on it now that its out of warranty, per the advisor.

sounds like they got the manifold bolt problem fixed . Now because they are not breaking the manifolds are, due to increased stress.

My left manifold cracked in the 30k mile range and had it swapped out. Either a design flaw or the people that are casting these things are producing a lower quality product. Hopefully it won't happen again. At 52k miles now.
