EGR Visors & Superguard Bug Shield

It's been 10 years since I purchased vent visors and I've never purchased a bug shield for a truck so I did my due diligence when shopping for each to say the least. I knew I wanted In-Channel Window Visors but most of the reviews on the AVS brand said they didn't fit the NEW Ram 1500 properly. On the bug shield I knew I wanted one that attached with screws (but didn't want to drill holes). In both instances the products from EGR were home runs!

I was skeptical about the no tape application of the front visors but they fit snugly & not concerned about them coming loose. The rear windows did have tape but they too went right in the channel and seem to be firm.

The bug shield was a bit more confusing as there were a ton of options & I couldn't find many (good) photos of the finished product, but I went the EGR route again after such a great experience with the window visors. Installation of the Superguard Bug Shield wasn't a great experience but now that it's installed it's sturdy as a rock. The issue I had was the clips wouldn't stay in the holes and the ridge on the clip that was supposed to catch on the visor to allow the screw to tighten was tough to keep in place on two of the four holes. After about two hours of wrestling with it (that included a trip to the hardware store to replace a lost screw) my Dad & I got the job done.

Overall I couldn't be more pleased with both items and highly recommend the EGR brand to everyone! One tip, I found both pieces significantly cheaper on Amazon than truck accessory websites. Real Truck had the visors for $106.20 & the Superguard for $90.10. I ended up getting each on Amazon for $64.18 & $66.53 respectively (and you can't beat Prime Shipping!).

Hopefully the before & after photos I've included will help someone decide when choosing the right visor/shield for their truck!

I've only used factory bug shields. Never liked the ones that tape on. The screws and clips in the holes in the hood, 20200107_160701.jpg were a pain.

That visor looks good on your truck . I didn't want to go the matte black route or chrome. I also didn't want that many clips on the paint (I know there's 3M tape behind it). Surprised the price wasn't higher being Mopar.

Any issues with the windows not closing or being very tight once the visors were installed?

Does the EGR hood shield use clips like the Mopar unit?

Egr unit has basically the same mounting hardware as the mopar. Just installed today. Took maybe an hour. It has the 2 clips on the sides that slide over the ppf they give you and 4 screw retainer clips that replace the factory push pins. Also has those rubber bumpers.

These a little bit of waviness from the rubber bumps but overall looks nice. Not sure how it's going to deflect bugs and rocks from the windshield but we will see. Got it off auto anything for like 70 shipped.

Also got the matching in channel window visors. Really easy install fronts are pressure fit only, rears have tape all along the lip instead of the brackets like the Mopars. But the fronts prevent the mirrors from fully closing because there's not an intention for the mirror arm. Minimal change in wind noise with the windows up. But with the radio on i can't hear it. Not much bulge of the rubber from the visor.

For the EGR hood deflector, what's done with the weather stripping? Did you use the screws that secure the hood deflector to also hold the weather stripping where the scrivits were removed? Thx!

You remove the weather stripping. I tried to attach while leaving it on but it just wasn't gonna work.

The WT and others do NOT tape on...screws and clips too.
You have a sport hood right ? I’m looking into the weather tech deflectors and the only ones I see say they do not fit sport hood .. maybe I’m looking at the wrong model. Do you have part # or a link?

I do have the sport hood. The WT deflector I installed on my 19 without the sport hood is the same part number I installed on my 2021 with the sport hood. Fits perfect and zero issues. Maybe they just haven't tested it yet and are playing it safe. Get it and you'll be happy you did!

I installed the EGR hood deflector and kept the factory weather stripping. I put the cones on the deflector Intead of the hood. I used the screws that came with the deflector to secure the weather stripping.

Is that the low profile one, or the "normal one"? I have the sport hood and want a matte black one (to match the vent openings in the hood). I may end up getting the non-low profile one and spraying some matte black on it before installation.

I have been looking for a deflector next for my truck. Got it down to EGR or the Weathertech. After reading lots of reviews about them I’m leaning towards the weathertech. I think it will look the best on granite night edition. I like the install method also.
