I'm at 24.4 right now, mixed city/highway mostly city. Less than 1,000 miles so not at all unhappy with my current mileage. Haven't checked my oil yet, wasn't aware that was an issue. Now, my '69 Alfa GT, that car could go through oil like no ones business.

I'll check the oil once I finish my coffee.

Oil level is fine. Would be rather disappointed if it wasn't.

Love to see another Alfa Nut with an eco diesel. Is your GT a 1750?

It was a 1750 when I bought it, swapped that out for a 2 liter. She was scary fast, and scary when going fast. Above 125 the front end was floating so much you could turn the wheel lock to lock and she's keep going straight.

Sometimes, I wished I brought it back to the states from Italy, but don't think I could have afforded the speeding tickets.

Payload on my truck is 1,645. The Cummins 3500 trucks are WAYYYY beyond that.

Towing on my truck is a tick past 10,000 lbs. A Cummins 2500 tows 17,000 and a Cummins 3500 is typically beyond 20k.

So while there is a massive difference in capability on paper, the thing I'm most interested in is the practical aspect of having a more stable platform to tow with that doesn't dance all over the highway like a stripper. It's funny because until I got this coil sprung rear end 1500, I had never seen complaints about towing. But there are a lot of guys who don't like the way the 1500 coil suspension feels while towing, and now I'm seeing the same thing. My prior full size trucks were all leaf sprung and no matter what I hooked to them, they were straight as an arrow.

Find a similar spec truck and lookup the #'s. I think you'll be surprised how much the extra weight of the 2500 eats up.

Just finished 618 mile trip from Dayton to Myrtle Beach. 65 degrees, periodic rain, 75ish mph. Me, wife and two daughters (17 and 20) plus another 100lbs of payload (total around 700lbs). 27.4 mpg on dash and 25.6 mpg hand calculated. Not thrilled with the disparity between the two but I’ve seen enough to know that’s not unusual.
Decent diesel prices too. $2.07 in Dayton and filled up just outside Myrtle with dash showing 64 miles to empty.

At least the 3500 you can get the ASIN and HO Cummins and avoid the POS 68RFE

Return trip, 55 degrees, no rain, cruise set at 75mph most of the way. 26.1 mpg via Fuelly. Dash showed 27.3 mpg.

Not bad. I am averaging about 26.1 hand calculated running my normal commutes. Dash shows 26.2 so really close. I run 80 most the time. 3.21 gears on mine.

My truck has 3.92 gears and the 33gal tank, so topped off tank when we got the boat. Made it all the way home pulling the 7000lb boat and trailer without stopping for fuel. Averaged 68mph on the way home and got 15mpg. I was happy and my buddy was very impressed. He's now thinking of getting a new truck since his Ecoboost would never get that kind of mpg loaded or unloaded.

Yeah, I was very impressed. I haven't towed anything that big/heavy with this truck and wasn't expecting 15mpg. My 3500 Ram
Cummins would get about 14mpg towing my old boat, which was also a 23LSV. So, getting the same mpg was a pleasant surprise. Now, I will say, the 3500 towed it nicer since it weighs 2500lb more and almost double the HP/TQ.

Odometer rolled past 12000km on my 300km trip, -10C, 100kph with cruise, 30mpg (imperial gallon) on EVIC. In all hand calculations it revealed not as good as EVIC by almost 1 mpg, until my last hand calculation of mixed driving, the hand was better by 1 mpg, maybe because it has reached the break-in. I am very impressed. My truck hasn’t moved since last Wednesday mainly because of the COVID-19 lock down, but I’m ok with that, I’m on holiday until the 4th of January. I will do the hand calculation on the next fill-up.

(740 miles, 27.4 MPG on the Lie-O-Meter)
Truck just turned over 3000 Miles on the return Leg.

I did Max out the Lie-O-Meter at 99.9 MPG

I saw a 70.1 MPG once on it and tried to recreate and get a PIC
Got the PIC of the 99.9 last night. I will add it to this post later.
