E torque alternator.

Update: I finally have my truck back after 7 weeks. They replaced the MGU and the 48 Volt battery pack. I am glad to have the truck back as I was getting tired of the rental Grand Caravan they had me in. Unfortunately, sitting for 7 weeks in damp and salty Atlantic Canadian late winter took its toll on the brakes. It took a few moderately hard stops from speed to finally scrape the crust off the rotors. I would imagine I've lost some significant lifespan on them, but I guess that's tomorrow's problem.
Good luck to everyone still waiting on these parts.

Nice you got it back “quick”, mine was in since Feb 14th, ETA is the 18th this month, they’ve been pushing it back 3 times already, fingers crossed.

It's a Christmas miracle....dealership where I bought the truck called to tell me they had an unclaimed MGU and would ship it to my current dealership. Should be in the mail by now. Hope I didn't just jinx myself.

7 weeks. Sigh. Hopefully you've now got a few years of trouble free operation.
After 7 weeks, how was the battery?

Got an email back from Customer Care. They've approved a loaner from the dealership or a rental up to $50/day. ETA on the alternator is now 4/16 and they say they'll update me on 4/17.

Fingers crossed.

They should if your truck still under 8/80000 warranty.
According to my SM, it's not the 8/80K powertrain warranty, it's some sort of environmental warranty so it doesn't automatically qualify for loaner/rental coverage.

If it’s the MGU it should be covered by the 8/80k warranty and they should give you a loaner free of charge. I’ve been driving the jeep compass they gave me for 2 months now, just called ram service today, they opened a case and hopefully they will expedite the part, ETA on the 18th next week.

Never heard of an 8/80 power-train warranty, there is no such thing.
There is, or was before our new commander in chief, a federal emissions warranty that should have covered the e-torq for 8/80.
Correct me if I am mistaken.

The 8/80K warranty is emissions. It’s in your manual. Battery pack and MGU are covered under it.

After 7 weeks, how was the battery?
As expected the battery was totally discharged and they had it on a charger while they installed the new MGU and Lithium pack. Once I got it home I put it on a NOCO Genius 5 charger and it took nearly 3 days before it reached a solid green status indicating a full charge. I then ran a "repair" cycle on the charger that is supposed to help desulfate the plates and destratify the electrolyte. no idea if it actually helps or not but so far the battery seems to be holding a charge between key cycles of at least 24 hours with a strong sounding cold crank. Fingers crossed it wasn't damaged and I get a couple more years of service out of it.

A more pressing issue is the brakes. The fronts seem alirght with lots of pad and rotor left, but the rears are in terrible shape. While it sat for all those weeks, the rear rotor face rusted terribly, and it hasn't really come back, and the pads are almost gone. its a shame for only 55,000 kms (34,000miles) of 95% highway travel. Even so, I am very happy to have the truck back. if the worst problem I have is needing to replace the rear pads and rotors early, I guess I can live with it.

While it’s not the fault of the dealer… I would ask for some help on the rears. Ask if they’ll extend a warranty on the labor if you pay for the parts… it’s worth asking, considering how long they had the truck, I think it’s reasonable.

Started shopping for a RAM about a year ago. Compiled a list of " must haves" and "must NOT haves". As I researched RAM 1500's, this eTorque jumped out as a useless gimmick to me, so that limited me to older trucks. I ended up looking at hundreds of trucks online, before settling on 2019 Longhorn with all the options, but no eTorque.

I am totally in love with the truck I bought. It rides/drives like a Cadillac, and I bought HPTuners so I can tweak and tune the engine and trans to get everything running just like I want.

With new (old) management at RAM, I would certainly consider a new 1500, but not if it has eTorque or other useless gimmicks. I don't want MDS either. I'm hoping I can eventually buy a brand new, gimmick-free 1500 with 6.4L engine.... if they make one, that is......

Best of luck to all you guys with the eTorque trucks...............

This.

This is the warranty my SM says covers the MGU; he also said it doesn't qualify for automatic loaner/rental coverage. If it *was* powertrain, it would be covered.

It'll DEFINITELY help those considering a purchase of RAM equipped with eTorque, as if all the other posts haven't already.
In other words, in plain English; IF IT HAS eTorque, DON'T BUY IT

There are thousands of them on the road with no problems at all. Mine and others on this forum have had no issues.
Blanket statements with no numbers, and only personal opinion are of no use to anyone.
I realize that you have an opinion, but it has nothing to do with OP's post.
