So...The truck has about 4,000 miles on it and recently in the past month it developed a drivetrain noise. At least that's what I think it is. No matter what gear I'm in during acceleration I hear a whine. It starts exactly at 45mph and keeps going until I can't hear it due to wind and road noise. The pitch of the whine goes up as the truck accelerates. In addition the whine is only present when positive torque is applied. Once I take my foot of the gas pedal the noise disappears. I did some research and it seems that people with previous gen rams experienced the same issue and ended up being a bearing in the diff. I am under the assumption that the drivetrain is almost identical to the 7th gen rams. I am just wondering if anybody else is experiencing a similar issue. I will address this with the dealer when I go in for the first service appointment. It's a bit of a disappointment since it's a new vehicle and I should have to deal with something that's not a quick fix. I know cars are not all perfect and I am not expecting it but this bothers me. Thanks
Did you have it fixed

They replaced a pinion bearing and set lash for my under throttle whine (46-50 mph). No more noise. First dealership also where I purchased the Truck said it was normal. It's not.

Something to be aware, truck got 900 miles, started to make whining noise under heavy throttle above 3K RPM. Dealer stated transmission fluid was low and had to add 3 quarts. On a brand new truck, WTF.

So just a theory as the used 2019 I drove and purchased in Colorado, drove for a couple of days, then shipped to Maui is now a problem... Mine is noticeable at all speeds since I picked it up yesterday.

I wonder if the pinion seal is bad, and depending on the angle during transport creates this problem? I realize it shouldn’t, but just a theory. From the port to home yesterday I knew what was making the noise, the pinion bearing. This morning I had to add almost 4oz of gear oil to It before I was comfortable driving it again. Same whine, and the dealership today said the pinion bearing is likely fried.

Have you found a solution to this? Purchased my 2019 Laramie a few days ago and started noticing this *exact* problem. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I don’t put many miles on it and the dealer assured me it was fine to drive. However, I’m taking it in tomorrow morning for this and two other issues. It’s Maui and they won’t have what’s needed to fix it, so I figure another month before it’s fixed. In my case the noise isn’t worse, in fact I sort of forgot about it until my wife and kids arrived and heard it.
