Driver side brake "spring" noise

Like the title says, everytime I hit the brake it sounds like a rusty spring is being extended, same story when I let off the brake. It just started doing it about 300 miles ago and hasn't stopped. From what i can tell it is only the front driver side brake. I've looked through it and saw that it might be the anti-rattle spring. Any else having this issue? I have the eTorque so it may be a regenerative braking problem. I tried spraying the brake down with brake cleaner but that didn't help. Anyone know of any lubricant I can use that is safe for brakes?

Sounds like the brake caliper. But usually won't be a metallic sound. Brake cleaner is the only thing I'd trust anywhere near the brake pads. Have you taken the wheel off and examined the caliper?

Not yet, that was my next move. I only have 3200 miles so I didn't suspect a brake caliper issue.

Dont rule it out ....years ago my dad's new F150 had a brake caliper that froze up while holding onto the rotor...while driving down the highway. It was a hell of a smoke show lol. The Rotor and pads were actually glowing orange when we stopped and looked.

Mine makes that odd springy sound as well, almost like a squeak or chirp. It has gotten less loud (5,000 miles) and it doesn't make the noise if it's been raining. Sounds like it needs a dose of caliper grease

I thought about the grease too...usually if it's the caliper sticking to the pad and then releasing it's a pop type noise...I guess it's one of those things ya need to hear it person

Called my local dealer about my two pending recalls and informed them about the brake noise. They said they will take a look at it next Thursday so I'll let you guys know what they say.

Mine makes the same noise. Thought it was normal. Will be curious if they find something causing it.

I don't think it's normal because my truck didn't do it for the first 3,000 miles or so. I'll report back with the findings from the dealership.

Please be sure to keep us posted, @Smerberj! I am more than willing to escalate a case for further support if needed.

Following, mine makes the same noise.
Hi all! If you do end up working with your dealer for this at any point, I am happy to get this documented and connect you with case specialists for further support as you work with your dealers.

Got my truck back from the dealership, they said my brake rotors were rusted and mentioned it was probably from the factory (they've seen this before). All they did was spin the rotors and the noise went away. If it comes back they will replace the rotors.

Did the noise ever come back? I am having a similar noise when braking. I can only hear it when the windows are down. I am curious if there was anything else that you had to do.

Yes, it did come back. My trucks sits for 2+ weeks at a time so I've learned to just ignore it.
