So installed the trailer brake control today, and had something sliding around behind the rubber cell phone holder backing. So I disconnected the batter but before taking the negative cable off I disconnected the BATTER SENSOR first then removed the ground cable.
Well 2 hours later after having to remove half the dash to get the CD/USB/Cell phone holder out, since the rubber piece is welded in place (the could have just used rubber nipples to pop that piece off). I found a dime had some how gotten in there. I buttoned everything up. When hooking the battery up I attached the ground cable and then reconnected the battery sensor. Fired it up and everything was intact and no warning lights or error messages.
Now about 8 months ago when adding bed lights I just unhooked the ground cable and not the sensor. It was unhooked for same time frame. When hooked everything up the truck went nuts.
Maybe the sensor is the cause of the truck wigging out when the battery is disconnected. This the second time I did this procedure. The first was a couple days ago replacing a BCM harness retainer housing I broke doing the bed lights, and had same results as today.
