Just brought home a new 22 Rebel G/T and I’m trying to figure out how to lock out the MDS eco mode. My 21 Rebel you simply hit the (-)(+) to 8 and it kept it out of MDS. However, with the new console and paddle shifters it’s not allowing me to do that. Anyone know how to do it without a aftermarket programmer?

Unfortunately its not quite as simple on the GT. I manage it by either manually shifting, or leaving it in auto and then sliding it over to manual when I reach 8th gear if I am on the highway.

I put my Pulsar on the GT for a short while, in part to lock out MDS, but it created a shifting quirk that I didn't like so I removed it.

Congrats on the GT btw, I find that I like mine a whole lot more than the Ram I had previously.

Yes, this is a frustrating non-feature on GTs. Tow/Haul mode will also turn it off if you can get used to the different shift points.

Yeah I’ll probably just deal with it since it won’t downshift when needed like the non-GT trucks

Hopefully I’ll just get used to the eco mode

Old thread, but I’ve got a 24 rebel gt and and beginning to wish I didn’t get the gt. I hate mds with a passion and have no way to kill it. My 2018 had the gear limiter on the wheel and my 12 had it in the console shifter. I was going to get a pulsar xt, after a few days of researching it I noticed right at the bottom of their description of the xt, “ paddle shifter applications not supported”. So…. In other words, NO GT’s. MDS is such a useless piece of ****.

What if you use tow mode?

I use the Tow/Haul Mode on my 2024 Laramie G/T..very frequently and love it! I tell people it should be called Tow/Haul/Sport Mode because the truck is louder, faster, and sportier in T/H Mode..and MDS is off.

Not sure why you can’t bypass mds. GT has paddle shifters that can control the gear, as well as manual shift. T/H mode disables as well. If you are looking into a pulsar, have you considered just getting an unlocked PCM and a tune? I’m quite satisfied with my Diablo setup, particularly in that MDS is permanently off.

What's to get used to? I've had MDS in my last 2 Rams and it's operation was completely imperceptible. My current Ram allows me to enable and light on the dash that shows when it cuts off cylinders. I turned it on for a while and the only time MDS engaged was when coasting. If not for the light on the dash I never would have known it was on. If you are feeling it turn on and off that is not normal.

I will hit tow mode sometimes when In traffic that speed up and slows down Abruptly over and over. I hate it when mds kicks on and off constantly. Other than that it stays enabled for me

You keep saying that but if you have an aftermarket exhaust or the borla that comes with the gt then you hear it. They all do. No exceptions in that’s case.

I’ve started to try getting used to the paddle shifters and the console shifter as of late. Of course it would be nice to just have mds gone. I don’t even want to think about it since I hate the useless feature so much. I will look into the diablo though.

I'm in the same boat as all you GT owners, wish i never got the damn thing in the first place. Why is the sporty ''race'' ram plagued with an eco mode.
I'm wondering if there is any possible way to change the paddle shifters into the ERS system (gear limit buttons) I would gladly lose the manual shifting mode to drive around on all 8 cylinders permanently in drive.
