What diff oil is everyone running in the 1500 dt 5.7.
I have a 3.92 diff occasionally towing
Thanks

Haven't changed the front diff yet, but the rear got Amsoil 75W-140 with 5 oz. of Mopar friction modifier for the limited slip. The fill specification is just below the fill hole, between 3 to 6 mm to be precise. I used a zip tie bent at a 90 degree angle as a dipstick

I used this in my rear 3.21. No additional friction modifier necessary with LSD.
75W140 is available too.

Get a good synthetic in the same weight as specified in owners manual. If you have limited slip, ads friction modifier. If just an open diff, or the e-locker, no additional additives needed. I'm a fan of Lucas Oil myself

I used Mobil 1 75w140 and Mopar 4318060AC Limited Slip Additive - 4 oz bottle in my 2011 Ram at 107k miles that had the same 3.92 gearing and limited slip diff as this 2022. This was towing 7k# 40% of those miles. That 2011 Ram had 179k miles when I switch to this new 2022. No diff problems.

So for sure if you have the electronic locking rearend you can just go ahead with Lucas and no friction modifier? Wont cause any chattering or vibration or anything? I was just about to change my fluid its over due as is the transmission which i am not looking forward to the fill process what so ever, im a mechanic but it seems a little temperamental

I have the e-locker, used mopar diff. oil and did not add any friction modifier because it is not called for and not needed.
The transmission fill process is not too bad, warm the tranny up to the specified temperature range and remove the fill plug, let the extra fluid drain out.

Thanks good to know! And yeah i hear a lot of guys like the lucas oil for the differentials…im going to change that asap truck has 57,000 on it and bought it 2 years ago at 44k on it. I have a company work van. Did you go with the factory transmission fluid it calls for. And i think maybe just the vids ive seen make it seem like you need a lift to do the drain and more importantly fill process correctly for the transmission

Did the mopar 8-9 speed tranny fluid. Did my service on my drive way, had the truck level on the jack stands, would have been nice to have it on a lift tho.
edit: to make it simple, just put back in the amount that drains out and you should be in the ball park, then follow the factory procedure with the temp. and drain.
