Hi everyone. I was looking at this used 2022 ram trx and I’ve never seen this gray plastic circle thing sticking out. It was at A Ford dealership. The salesman didn't know he said he thought it was a kill switch, which makes no sense putting one out in the open. Is it a gps tracker or maybe a breathalyzer plug in? Anyone have insights seems like something out of place here. Thanks IMG_9295.jpeg

That’s Ravelco. Not factory. You pull the gray plug out and the vehicle is disabled (starter, fuel pump, etc).
It has been shown to be easily defeated if you know how. I have it installed in my truck, and as soon as I saw the video showing it being defeated, I had another device installed (IGLA and Compustar).

And if I’m not mistaken, that’s a TRX. You definitely want something more than Ravelco.
Edit: just re-read your post and, duh, you stated it was a TRX.

Thank you very much for your knowledge!

at a minimum, get IGLA installed and then layer compustar on top.
I have the IGLA, no need for anything else. I enabled hijack mode so after I’ve entered my sequence of buttons and start driving, if I’m sitting at a red light and someone carjacks me, once my driver door opens and closes they have about 300 yards of driving until the truck shuts down.

I would recommend Compustar on top of IGLA. Compustar is a good deterrent (shock sensor, alarm, etc), and IGLA is the true anti-theft. Very good combo (I have both).

A easy first step for security is to turn off the proximity door lock option.
sorry to quote a somewhat older post, but why do you think that will help?

Even with the keyfob in the house thieves use a signal repeater to get into your vehicle and start it as If you are inside your vehicle.
Turning off passive entry will eliminate that possibility since the vehicle is not listening for the signal.

from what i have seen they can clone your key with or without passive entry so turning off a convenience function of your truck is useless. Also If that is your fear put your key in a faraday box at home and they can’t clone it.

If they want it they will get it. Ram recognize this issue when passive entry was not included in the Rebel Level 1 equipment group along with not including Security Alarm. lol
