Just got quoted on a custom ordered 2021 Limited 1500 4x2 with a few addons. Pulled the trigger and sent deposit. Did I get a deal? Can I negotiate better on price? options? Curios to see how well I did.

I got 500 below invoice with minimal negotiating and was happy with the OTD price so I didn’t push it. Could have gotten more. I’m sure you can the same

So invoice + 4%? That isn't a good deal at all. Invoice is the starting point and go under that. Typically people are getting between 4-6% under invoice plus incentives. As for Sold orders, the dealership can lock in the incentives (Inventive protection). I would back out now and do better if your ordering. There are many dealers in the threads that can do better than that if your willing to drive or have it shipped.

Agreed. At that price you're at 3% under MSRP before rebates.

I have the same truck but a Laramie GRP 2 with a few more options such as Night Edition and performace hood, etc (even same color) - paid the same amount

Did you get a great deal? No. Did you get screwed over? No. You are in the middle. Many guys that got better deals will say you got screwed over, but in the end, across the entire spectrum from great deals to highway robbery (in the dealer's favor), you're in the middle.

If you are happy, that is what truly matters. Some guys will not be happy until they get 20+% off of MSRP, and they're willing to put in the legwork for it, even sacrifice options or a lot of time. Some are happy paying MSRP minus rebates for exactly what they want. A few get lucky and get exactly what they want for a lottery ticket of a deal.

I don't even remember exactly how good/bad my deal was. 6% or 8% under MSRP, something like that. I still have the paperwork, I just don't care to look it up. Not a great deal, not a bad deal. Thats how much I care about it 1 year in. No point constantly beating yourself up over a few thousand dollars on a $60k+ truck, over the course of multiple years, if it makes you smile every time you drive it. Life is too short.

Just my two cents.

Why torture yourself?

If it's the end of the month -- end of the quarter, or end of the year, even -- and a dealership is close to meeting the goal, they'll likely make better deals. Or the exact truck you want will be on the ad that week. Something will be different. Someone will always be able to beat your deal somewhere.

I learned in 1988 when I bought my very first new vehicle to stop looking. Because a week after I bought my strippo Ranger (I paid extra to get a rear bumper, that's how strippo) some other dealer put one on ad for less than the $7388 I paid. You made the deal. You were happy with it at one time or you wouldn't have made the deal. It's too late to do anything about it. So stop looking.

Appreciate the insight. According to the Fleet Mgr. She indicated that her dealership does not write less than invoice quotes. She went on about some point with availability due to Covid and custom orders don't usually get special prices.(("a Custom Order is 3.5% over Invoice for this truck.")) Would it be worth it going to the dealership owner? I will research a bit more with the links provided. If I can save at least 2K + going another route, then I will cancel the order. They will return my deposit. But as some stated, as long as I am happy with the purchase is it really worth it?

Oh, on a separate note, does this model have Uconnect v5? I can not find any definitive answers if it does or doesn't.

Only you can decide whether it is worth it. Are you happy? If so, leave it be. If you are a little unhappy, knowing what you know now, and not in a rush: cancel, get your money back, and go dealership hunting.

No, the Rams do not currently have UConnect 5. Some are hoping it'll debut in the 2022 models, but I'm pretty sure it won't happen until the next model refresh in 2023 or later. (I'd be happy to be proven wrong!) UConnect 4 is still a really good infotainment system, its just missing a few of the newest/latest features, such as wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. (It will do wired CarPlay/Android).

As others have said, if your happy with the price/deal then stick with it. Otherwise yes there are other dealers out there that will give you invoice. If you have Treadlightly discount (1% under invoice plus $200) you would be $3200 better than what you have now. And think if you went to one of the other dealers that might be close to you and get even more under invoice. It all depends on what your comfort level is and how much you are will to push.

You could try the GM and see what they say but if they won't budge then it's your call. In the end it's your money and you need to be happy with the decision.

OP, if YOU are happy with the deal, then that's it and move on. Seriously, don't torture yourself.....just visit this forum before buying your next Ram.....lots of great info here! ;) Having said that, I do believe that you can get an at (or below) invoice deal plus incentives as other have mentioned. This is what I did and was never told any of the "special order" BS. Also, as @Snofire mentioned, lock in your incentives so you know what your "worst case price" will be, and then when the truck arrives and if incentives are better, then you can get that! GL in your decision!

My 2021 Limited is on order now, as of 3/9 (patiently waiting for the day of arrival). My MSRP was $75490 and sale price before rebates/incentives was $64821. So, that's just over 14% dealer discount off MSRP. My dealership WAS able to lock in rebates/incentives at time of order BUT we'll compare at time of delivery and apply what's best. At this point, I'm taking 0% for 72 months. I also get $500 rebate from Chrysler, $500 from Affiliate program, and $1000 from PenFed. My OTD price will end up being about 16% below MSRP and I'm happy with that. As others have said, if you're happy with you deal, that's all that matters. If not, walk away and I'm sure you can find lots of advice on this forum how to easily get the same deal I did, or maybe better. Heck, my dealership is going to ship the truck to my house. It doesn't get much easier than that. Good luck!

Agreed. MSRP $76,920 Invoice $70,555 OTD $67,039. I’m content. General manger was a friend of a friend. Picked up more than 1% under invoice before incentives.

Join tread lightly ...fca affiliate program.. the price will be 1% under Invoice.. membership is $100 .. I believe you have to be a member for 30 days prior to sale

Scroll to the bottom and see the benefits for different levels of membership.. the $100 package is the one that has the %1 below invoice.. should talk to the dealer about it, my dealer was the one that told me to do it.

Found it. Dealer already got me more than 1% below the invoice before incentives, so I’m content :-)
