I am wanting to paint/vinyl the gold dash/center console inserts that come in the Laramie edition, but I can't find any information on how to do so. Does anyone have any information how to remove these things? Any recommendations on a paint/vinyl? I love everything about this truck, I just hate this random gold accent.

I think there's instructions floating around for the wireless cellphone charger install - they show how to remove the center stack area; might help you get nearly there in pulling the stack off

*Edit*

Found it

Just pulled the center piece off couple of hours ago that TruckDriver provided documentation. 2 philip screws at top and the entire piece pops off. Do not pull it straight away!!! there is a yellow plug that allows you to pull the panel away approx 6" towards you.

-Start at the bottom underneath the trailer brake (or blank) and the other side where the piano looking buttons are location. Place your thumbs on each side and your fingertips underneath and pull outward with your fingertips while letting your thumbs be the brace points. It will sound ugh but they are the snap in type of clips.

-I then went around from bottom upward popping the snap-ins on each side up to the top. I used my fingertips and try to keep even force spread out to pop the snap-ins kinda like one at a time so as not to torque the center piece too much.

Thanks everyone. I was able to easily get the center stack out using the instructions provided. I guess my only question now is how to detach the gold inserts?

Had the same thing on my Laramie. No idea how the gold made it past the design team, but it looked like trash. I had mine wrapped in a carbon fiber look 3M “leather”. Night and day difference.

Has anyone figured out how to get the gold pieces off of center stack? I’ve pulled the center stack out and see that they’re held on with white clips, but I can’t figure out how to get them off?

That looks great. DIY? Did the wrap install without removing the lower console?

Took it to the dealership and showed them. They hadn't noticed it either. They were like "wth...", and gave me a voucher to their custom shop. Think it was $120 in total, but with the voucher I only paid $20.

What did they do for $120? Pictures please?

Scroll up a few posts. I posted a few pictures. One is of the trim pieces around the touchscreen and the other is the pieces that run along the center console. Used to be that odd gold color, but the wrap I had installed is a pseudo-fabric that has a carbon fiber appearance.

Yeah that looks awesome. The gold is terrible. I did some searches and haven’t been able to find that wrap. Do you have any other details of what you used?

Well I covered the ugly gold plastic in my center instrument panel today. I used 3M 1080 carbon fiber. I did it by removing the panel and then removing the screen and lower controls, which are held on with multiple torx screws.

Unfortunately, the gold plastic is fused to the chrome vent bezels. Rather than trying to seemed it apart, I opted to run the vinyl right up to the chrome, then carefully trim it away. It’s not perfect but pretty close.
