Damn clunk. I’m lost

It’s at the dealership i bought it from for 30k service and the alignment. They’re gonna poke around but I did show them the video. I also checked out my step daughters laramie that’s setup very similar to mine. Cv on hers doesn’t wiggle as much as mine. Wondering if it’s that intermediate shaft.

Also my dumbarse somehow managed to get a lug stuck. I swear I thread them on by hand and then torque. Never tighten with my oogy doogy. So the dealership is cutting that off and putting in a new stud.

They said the inspection showed nothing loose or broken. Of course it isn’t a full diagnostic.

Curious, how much play should cv axles have? I noticed mine seem pretty noisy when I yank on them.

yeah mine doesn't really make that noise hmm...

If i remove just the uca, tie rod and lower shock mount to remove the axle and replace the stub, do i need an alignment afterwards?

Might be dumb idea, but any chance it’s the driveshaft slip yoke bind/clunk happening at strange times. Also, many years ago I used chassis ears for some clunks, see where it’s the loudest to hone in on. ($110)

no you shouldn't need to. UCA angle is fixed, and the LCA mount on the frame side is not touched. you should be fine alignment-wise

thanks for the info man. I’m waiting for an estimate to see what the dealership would charge, but it’s a 70 dollar part and honestly not hard to do myself. I’m just still recovering from this nerve in my neck.

if it's not too much just have them do it, that way if something is still not right you can get them to fix it.
get your nerve/ neck right first before trying to do it yourself. you ain't getting paid to do it (it's not what you do for a living) so not worth it. been there done that myself, but it's because i have no choice because appointment book is full lol
now i'm only 33 but i feel like im 53 with all sorts of body ache and soreness lol

SA got back with me. A few hundred bucks to change it out. Im just going to pull the trigger.

Greased up my passenger side when I replaced the bearing hub.
And for a future reference, no alignment needed.

i lube everything lol
if it's moving part or metal on metal then I lube it.

I had a weird clunk I had to chase down for a long time, 2 different shops couldn't find it. Ended up just being lose rear control arm bolts. Only happened when stopping, or moving from a dead stop.
