Chip Shortage=You Ain't gettin' your Ram with that

Just get a Limited. Adv Safety Group was available on my Limited order today, though I didn't select it. Still had blind spot shown as included on a Limited. I would have ordered a Laramie but blind spot was a must have.
Interesting, especially considering the Longhorn line is now called "Limited Longhorn."

Hmmm... I ordered a 2021 Limited today.
All I can say is I wasn't able to place an order, and that's what they told me. No idea why they would tell me that if it's not true. This dealership has always been straight up with me. They knew I wasn't buying anything they had on the lot. And I was the one who found the truck they ended up doing the dealer trade for.

Congrats on your order. I hope it doesn't take any longer than "normal" to get.

Just wait to order a 2022, should only be a few more months.
2022 will have even worse incentives and the normal $500+ MSRP increase in base price for a new model year. Probably a bigger increase than that considering how sticker prices have skyrocketed the past 9 months or so. The 5.7 was a $1195 upgrade 2019 MY. $1495 2020 MY. Currently it is $2295. ET is of course an additional few hundred.

I have no idea where you’re getting those numbers, the 5.7 for a crew cab big horn short bed is a $1,795 option currently. It’s been like that for quite some time. Not to mention my incentives were pretty bad but I still got almost $11k off with dealer discount in the middle of this chip shortage 2 months ago. That’s compared to summer 2019 when I got $12,500 off. MSRP’s go up and down all the time, shortage or not. I’m saying wait for 2022 because they’re gonna have some option updates. Trucks at my dealer are still $9-10k off sticker so.

I tried to order today after deciding on options. They could not order the Longhorn Level One Group on the computer, likely a chip shortage issue or a reconfiguration of packages due to the chip shortage?
Now I read here some are saying no Advanced Safety Package, or Level one with no blindspot warning, only one key fob.
Look Ram I don't NEED a truck right now. Don't offer something then take it away. That sounds like bait and switch. I might as well wait, maybe till the 2022s come out, IF they come out, or go over to the Ford dealer.
I was considering a 2021 F150 XLT FX4, but I was told it would take 22-26 weeks from order to delivery. Ford is mismanaging the semiconductor shortage worse than any manufacturer. I was told that cutoff for ordering 2021 Ram's was going to happen sometime this week. You might have been a victim of the cutover to the 2022's.

Looks like Ram is really pushing eTorque, it’s not extra anymore showing the same $2,295 as the regular 5.7

I believe eTorque was $1,450 in 2019. They’ve failed to convince people it’s worth paying for and are now trying to give it away as a no-cost option.

And here's one with the same engine, at my dealer built 03/27 for $1,795... Must be a April-May thing for now.

Edit: They did the same thing with the Wranglers with the 2.0 engine, now its a $0 option where it was pretty expensive on 2018 models.

Whether it is a chip shortage or the turnover to the 2022 models, I am still in limbo with an order. Maybe I'll find out more in the coming week. If so, I'll update here. This always happens to me, I see something in the store and say, I want that one. They invariably say, yes there is a big sale, but not on the one you want, or we don't make that one anymore. Plus this is just bad timing. My business partner got an F-150 back last March 2020 when dealers were very desperate to sell anything. He got a great deal. Me, not so much. I would rather wait though than compromise, but the price paid may/will be higher. If I can get a 2022 Ram with some sort of added features (that I would actually use) it might be worth the wait/cost. If it's just a price increase, then......? I'll have to follow the thread on 2022 model changes/availability.

Interesting. I think in zmY 2019 it was like $1500 in addition to the regular HEMI, which was an extra $1195 vs the 6 cyl.

2020 MY and beginning of 2021 ET was a $300 (maybe $200, can't recall exactly) over regular HEMI. 2021 saw a $200 or $300 increase in regular HEMI price.

EPA regs are driving all this. I am going from ET on my current Laramie to a regular HEMI on my Limited build. Like you said, charging the same for both engines will get more people to go ET and help RAM's CAFE numbers since it gets 2 mpg better on EPA ratings.

Only official option changes released as of now are the addition of the tech where the backup camera "disappears" a trailer. Like GM has. No word on cost for this feature.

Correct, both the stickers I posted are April builds

Yes Jeep went down the same path. The 3.6 was standard, 2.0 was $1,000

Now the 2.0 is standard and the 3.6 is $1,750 (plus eTorque is mandatory on 3.6 automatic)

They are hurting for every mpg they can squeeze to cut down buying credits from Tesla

Ok folks I think that they are putting the chips to the higher end models that make them more money.
It sucks but it makes sense from a business perspective.

Update: Well, after much delay (two weeks) I was able to place an order today (May 14th). Everything I wanted, all options were available. The only thing is, it is now officially a 2022 model. They said all 2021 ordering- is now ended. So, orders going forward will be 2022s. They did not know of any specific changes with the 2022s (no new colors, changes in option packages, etc.) The order took all the same codes and descriptions as the 2021s. One big question mark, however, is price. They didn't have any specific info on that. Ugh $$$ They indicated a relatively normal ordering delay of about 4-6 weeks till delivery.

You might take delivery in 4-6 weeks but that's not the norm. Count on it taking 8-14 weeks and you won't be disappointed.

On HDs?

On 1500s can't get BSM on Laramie even at extra cost. On Big Horn it was always extra $595 (same as on Ford XLT). Part of Level 1 on Longhorn, standard and available on Limited.

Yeah, I just bought a Laramie this past week with the night edition package and it sucks because there was no BSM. We were at another dealer last week, the Laramie that had BSM on it was getting close to Limited levels of price tag. I was looking at the one modding thread on here where you can add them in with a bit of work, but I don't want to go through all that hassle.

Do you guys know if the dealer is able to add BSM to our Laramie's if we paid for it out of pocket? I know you need the mirrors, the BSM modules, some rewiring, and a new set of tail lights. It is the one option that I really wanted when I traded in my 2018 Silverado which then they didn't have them on their trucks at all.

Picking up my new Bighorn tomorrow (fresh off the truck) that will be without an Active Air Dam. I think I can live with that. Not sure if I'm getting two key fobs or not.
