Jut thought Id throw my experience in, since im having similar issues.

Started with super rough cold starts, to the point of the truck actually stalling. This started at around 6k miles. Finally at around 8k, cylinder 1 misfire popped up. Dealer fixed with a software update. Fuel economy post update went from 19-21 mpg avg (pre update) to MAX 17.5 mpg avg (post update, if im really driving for efficiency) Ever since, I have been cycling the ignition prior to starting in the morning. All seemed well.

Fast forward to this past Monday (9/2/19), I forgot to cycle the ignition (which to be honest, I shouldn't even have to do). Check engine light pops on, misfire starts. I am in a campground, with no dealer near me. Temp fix; I unplug neg terminal on the battery and let it sit for a minute. This fixed it for 2 days. Yesterday morning (9/4/19), getting on the highway and the truck is back on its bullsh**. Another misfire code and violent shaking under loads. All this is with between 13k and 13.5k miles.

Dealer called today, says that a faulty PCM is causing my issues. They have a new PCM on order, so we will see what happens.

Its a damn shame, because I love everything about this truck. Cant say that too often about many vehicles. However, we should be able to trust our $50k+ brand new trucks to take us anywhere without fear of a breakdown.

Good Afternoon,

Got an update from the dealer just a bit ago. New PCM was installed, truck ran great cold, but once it warmed up the misfire popped up again. I believe the advisor told me cylinder 4. They swapped the old PCM back in to verify and it did the same thing. The tech is now waiting on direction from Chrysler to see where to go next.

Hello Ram Care Specialist Mark!! I'd love some help with updating my 12" display to where it will keep my SXM presets and not play two inputs at the same time.... I've had the first problem since March and have been waiting on the Q3 "over the air update" to take place and the second problem just started last week after the dealer preformed a radio "update".

BTW, I had the same misfire error occur and after an update it has been fine.

My cylinder 5 coil was replaced Friday along with 3 recalls, I drove the truck Saturday n sunday 500 miles and no check engine light again.

My first misfire was cylinder 1 according to the records. So I have 6 more misfires to go lol

The bad thing is the value of this truck is dropping dramatically and once I get rid of it I don't want to take a loss.

Mark, thank you for responding! Yes, my dealership has been aware of the issue but insists I need to wait for the Q3 over the air update. Can you send me a private message with details on how to contact you directly?? Thank you!

Hey guys, I forgot to post an update once the truck got fixed. The dealer traced my issue to (2) pins on the PCM connector. Apparently the pins were not installed correctly and were making intermittent contact, causing the misfire conditions. The problem was traced by performing a "wiggle test", running the truck and wiggling the connector. Moved one way, the truck would misfire. Put pressure the opposite way, it would go away. The tech ended up re-pinning the PCM connector and all has been well for about a month now.

I've been waiting for this myself lol. I'm still considering buying a Ram 1500 but not at new price with all those issues. Hopefully used prices fall to a nice level in a couple years.
