I'm working on this project and I have questions. I picked up a console off ebay, wiring harness was already inside. removed the jump seat, moved the connector down and over, I was able to get the front USBs connected and working. the one inside the console lid works too. The 2 in the rear however are not lit up, nor are they charging.
Under the dash, There was a grey plug and a black plug, I currently have the grey plug from under the dash plugged into the usb plug on the harness, and the H plug connected. The black plug is not connected at all, nor the audio plug from under the dash, plugged in the one from the console harness.
This seems to be doing everything I want, didn't try to play music from AA, but it was connected and showing maps, Will test farther.
My truck did not have rear usbs to begin with. so my questions are the following.
1. What do I need to do to get the ones in the back to light up and work? harness is clearly providing power as the one in the console lid works, I saw where someone had connected the front and rear hubs with a USB cable in the middle slot, Is this what I am missing?
Removed the back of the console today, USB cable is not what I need, the rear hub I am installing only has a single plug with 4 pins (Red, Orange/Grey, Pink/Yellow, Black) All of these appear to exist on the truck side of the harness. I have Fused B+ in #2, but nothing in #3. I am going to try and multimeter this plug tomorrow. If this is the cause, can I tap pin 3 into pin2 at the truck side of the harness? or tap into the console usb to power the rear hub
2. What is the black USB from under the dash for? I plugged it in, I had it connected and disconnected to the front media hub and did not see any real differences.
