We have new photos of the 2020 Ram Power Wagon

Thanks to our friends at Real Fast Fotography, we have received new photos of the 2020 Ram Power Wagon out doing some pre-production testing. We previously posted the first Power Wagon spy shots back in July, but the off-road-focused model has been elusive from the camera for the past few months.

While we have seen many variations of the 2020 Ram HD this is only the second Power Wagon that we have seen so far. The first photos we showed you back in July were of a Power Wagon with the standard bed while this truck has the RAMBOX equipped bed. It looks as if Ram will be sticking with the Goodyear Duratrac tires for the Power Wagon which is no surprise as they are so well received by enthusiasts. The 2019 Ram 1500 Rebel also went to Goodyear Duratrac tires, shifting away from the Toyos used in previous versions.

While still heavily camouflaged we can see that the Power Wagon will carry on with a similar “mustache” grille style as the current Power Wagons and gain LED headlights. We expect these trucks to be heavily refreshed versions of the current HDs, gaining technology and styling cues from the 2019 Ram 1500 as well as powertrain updates.

Interiors also look to mimic the 2019 Ram 1500 with a few minor tweaks such as the addition of Auxiliary switches on the bottom of the center stack.

The 2020 Ram HD is set to debut in January at the North American International Autoshow.

You snuck this in. I overlooked it twice.

January is coming so fast. Noticed ththe wheels look likethe ones on the Mojave Sand Powerwagon.

I can not wait to see this unveiled

If you look just past the grille, squint a little, I swear I see a 7.0l Hemio_O

Is this the first siting of the 6'4" Rambox?

Unfortunately not as we expect the HDs are going to be refreshed versions of the 4th Gen HD for now utilizing the current HD cabs and beds.

So i've read that production will remain in mexico for a while. Do you know how long before they move it to Warren? Not until after 2019 classic production ends?

Does this mean that there really wont be a true 5th gen HD until much later, since 2020 is really just a refreshed 4th gen?

I couldn't see them doing all this work to refresh 4th gen for only 1 model year (2020).

Not saying thats a bad thing. Current HD is very good and is still competitive if not better as is. Minor exterior facelift and maybe new trans or engine options on 4th gen platform with 5th gen interior facelift are nice improvements and should keep Ram HD competitive for a while.

I guess my definition of 5th gen HD would be frame/platform updates along commonizing more of the body with 5th gen 1500 (cabs, doors, 6-4" bed).

Rumor is that Classic production will end at Warren around July of next year. After that Warren will shut down and go through a complete revamp which will likely take about 6 months. We know that Warren will be getting the HDs when it is ready along with Wagoneer/Grand Wagoneer and if we are correct about the next-gen Durango going body on frame that will be going to Warren too.

If I was to take a guess based on some new information this refreshed HD will be available for about 2 model years before an all-new HD is launched. These prototypes that have been spotted share the same chassis code as the current HDs meaning under the skin they are mostly similar to the current trucks, and I think we have a lot of good evidence pointing to the cabs being the same as the 4th Gen cabs for now.

I'm working on an article right now with some news I've recently heard about the HDs.
