Catch Can

For those that have installed the J&L catch can....any issues arise like throwing codes? I'm considering getting one for myself so I'm just seeing if anyone is having problems with codes or even warranty claims being denied by having one installed.

If installed correctly, a catch can should never cause a check engine light. Not should it have any effect on your warranty.

Don't worry it's won't throw codes.
For me after 1,000 miles it's hasn't caught enough oil to even cover the bottom of the can.
On my 3.6L Gladiator it would catch allot of oil after 5,000 miles the 3 oz can would be full.

Wow that is such a small amount, I’m actually surprised it’s so little.

For everyone else that has one installed, how much does it collect every 1000 miles…is it similar to what jmr is seeing?

I get about 1oz every 1000 miles. But I am using a cheaper Amazon billet catch can.

No issues here with mine. Straight plug and play install with no indicated oil flow bottleneck issues. I can't imagine how it could throw a code.

Is there a difference in the catch can for the SO hurricane vs the HO hurricane? Same one good for both motors?

Only code would be if the catch can caused a vacuum leak due to poor connection.

I've used catch cans on all my newer vehicles (pics), but my buddy who owns a speed shop and Pro Stock races, told me Manufacturers can and will deny engine claims if they "catch" you with one (he also feels they aren't really that beneficial)..food for thought..I like them, but seals and threads can be sketchy and leak. (apparently I like strut bar braces also🤣)20200129_174207.jpg20241115_081643.jpg20151121_080154.jpg

Received the J&L catch can and just got it installed. I went ahead and bought the 3oz extension since I live in a colder climate during the winter. I’ll check it next weekend after about 500 more miles.
