Cargo/high brake light led conversion

is there a way to tell if I have the updated parts for the 3rd brake light without actually taking it off? I'm hesitant to break that factory seal lol
Don't know about the light BUT the screws are changed, old style is philips head with a white washer while the new screw is star and a black washer. New is also shorter and shaped a little flatter on the shaft side of the screw.
Feel a little screwy knowing the difference for the CHMSL screws.

Lol. I'll take a glance at my screws and see what they used. Easy way to tell without taking the light off.

I'm trying to find the part number to the new screws that the LED CHMSL uses. I was thinking of using two of the four screws the old lamp has but if they changed them to different ones it's for a reason probably. Anyone happen to know the part number? lol

I checked with my local dealer and looks like the part number is 6036490AA for the newer style screws...

I received 06036802AA

Is 68298380AH the correct part number for the updated version? And I'm assuming the updated screws are needed as well, as in nothing else is included with it? Pretty sure I can just find those at a hardware store. $5 for a single screw is insane.

It has been some time since I changed out the light. The screws are different than the original on my 2019. See post #21. I've had no issues since the install (had no issues previously, just changed out to be proactive). Hardware store screw - what will you do for the washer?

There does seem to be less complaints about the CHMSL leaking than years ago.

Yea that setup is unique but man that's crazy $5 for a screw. I wouldn't mind if it was all 4 that you need as much.

My '22 definitely has the old setup and when I pulled it there was evidence of moisture inside but only around the gasket because it was soaked... So only a matter of time before it starts leaking.

I know there are Amazon knock offs which I don't mind as long as they don't fog and the gasket actually works.

I believe these are the ones I used.

$1.78 but shipping estimate is $10.92 to my zip code. LOL Have you tried a dealer?
