So, I just bought a new 21 bighorn built to serve edition and all of the exterior lights on it are LED except the cab mounted brake light and cargo lights. Without going crazy with having to program or reprogram anything is there a way to convert those light to LED without it throwing any error messages or codes? Maybe just by replacing the bulbs perhaps?

Yes, you can just replace the bulbs. Many have done it. I have a set of Lasfit LED that I could sell you if you want. Just send me a PM.

As Vince said, aftermarket LEDs are easy to do. Just be warned, they can interfere with fob reception. I did the cargo lights and if I unlock the truck from the remote, the cargo lights come on and block any further communication until I get inside (IE- I can't remote start it or relock it from the fob until I'm either in the truck or the cargo lights turn off). Some have reported that aftermarket brake light LEDs interfere enough that when they press the brake to start the truck the truck says 'no key fob detected' and won't start. YMMV

Thanks. What's the bulb size? I have access to "can-bus friendly" LEDs that are 194 replacements. I'm just not sure of the size of the factory bulbs.

Jesus christ, they don't make anything nowadays that doesnt throw a code or cause some sort of disturbance lol

I’ll eventually go this route and add the camera too. Just trying to go slow on these mods. I’m at about 2500 dollars in under two months haha

If it wasn't 400 I'd be all over that. That's pretty cool

I did that. I have the one with the camera, but I'm trying to help get the digital mirror working with 19/20 models.
I already have the 12" screen where the backup camera is displayed. I'm not looking to replace everything

Just as a heads up...once you break that factory seal by removing your third brake light, it MIGHT open you up to the famous third brake light leak. I believe they possibly changed the gasket used on the 2021s, but I haven't taken mine off to confirm this yet for just that reason. Just heads up lol

Yes - it has been changed and also the screws. Went for the $30+ for the updated version even though I had no issues. I like the idea of the double seal.

I have the 12" screen too. I think the 21+ we can add the third brake light with the camera, change out the rear view mirror & add a cable and we can use that camera. On the earlier models I don't think it's that easy so that is what he is talking about. People with earlier truck models need more to get it to work. Don't quote me on this though, I just found the forum where they are talking about that so I'm reading up now. haha

Do they give you any problems with the key fob? Some people have said the LED's can affect the remote start function.

That only happens to me if I accidentally hit the unlock button (which turns on the cargo lights too) before I hit the remote start button. If I hit the right button to begin with, it works fine. The LUYED LEDs are what I have too.

is there a way to tell if I have the updated parts for the 3rd brake light without actually taking it off? I'm hesitant to break that factory seal lol
