I think my 4wd actuator is bad. However, I can't find a Dorman replacement. It gives me one that is not even close to looking like mine. I even searched on the OEM sites and they say that number is not found. I know the 48-11 is the transfer case number. The only place I can find it is on EBay but I really don't want a used one.
Can anyone help?

I ordered this and am about to do the swap, but realized it didn't come with a gasket. One needed?

Nope, just a quick change out. Be sure to spray out the truck side electrical connector with electrical contact cleaner.

That's not the actuator, it's the transfer case motor. I'm looking for the same part 48-11-646-004-A. I replaced the actuator and it did not fix my problem so now I'm looking for the transfer case motor. My symptom is when trying to shift to 4wd I get a message on the dash that states "4WD Shift Not Completed Retry Shift". Been trying to figure this out for over 2-weeks. You can hear the transfer case motor clicking and trying, but nothing happens. Stuck in 2wd so I can still drive it, but winter is here and I need 4wd. 2019 Ram Laramie 5.7 eTorque.
Original poster Bob Tucker, did you ever figure it out?

It says it's the actuator and it fixed my problem, which is exactly what you describe.

Did you clean out the electrical connector with electrical contact cleaner?

Have you spoken with a dealership parts department? That would be my next call.

I replaced the actuator that you have pictured above, but it did not fix the problem. I did not use contact cleaner on the connector and will give that a try before picking up a new transfer case motor that I found at my local AutoZone $249. The picture that Bob Tucker posted (original poster) is the transmission transfer case motor which is located on the front side of the transfer case behind the transmission. The actuator is located at the front end between the CV joints. I talked with the local dealership a couple weeks ago and they said they would have a mechanic give me a call which I never heard back from (as I expected). I will add more to the post when I get it working.

Hopefully your electrical connector is dirty and cleaning it will work.

Mine was covered in oil - the previous owner let the dealership change the oil and the oil filter drips right on it. Cleaning it up and the new connector resolved my issue.

I tried cleaning the actuator connector with contact cleaner (as firecadet613 suggested) and that did not work (it really was not dirty). I replaced the position sensor on the transfer case and that did not work so now I've ordered a new transfer case motor. The one they had at AutoZone was the wrong part so buyer beware. I found a brand new Mopar TC motor part # 68679351AA (confirmed with the dealer this is the correct part) on Ebay and will likely receive it after the 1st of the year. I'll update once again when I've installed the new motor.
