Has anyone ever seen, owned, built a camper top or bed cap that works with ramboxes AND retains the function of the ramboxes? I've seen the Topper Lift setups for a variety of campers but I really dislike the mounting posts inside the bed taking up real estate, wiring, power, etc. It's not a good fit for me. I really like the look of the RSI Smart Cap EVO (https://www.rsismartcap.com/products/smartcap-evo-ram-1500) and it makes me wonder why nobody makes a cap that uses a gullwing design to allow access to the ramboxes. If you mount the cap/camper into the 4 corners like a bed rack for security and stability, it would seem that the gullwings could latch down with a rubber strip/gasket onto the outer rib of the ramboxes and provide a pretty good water seal...surely as good or better than the seal on the tailgate. I'd welcome any insight/ideas or references here!

Use an ARE camper top and then add in the TopperEZLift system. Here is a video showing the RamBoxes open with the TopperEZLift holding the ARE camper shell up:

I appreciate the reply, but I do not want to use the TopperEZLift because of the way the mechanical and wiring sit inside the bed. It takes up bed space and means that I could no longer load 4ft sheets of sheetrock, plywood, etc.

Any other ideas?

What about a normal cap secured at the corners to the bed with lifting sides to allow the ramboxes to open? I'm also interested in a solution that does not involve mechanical lifting of the cap everytime.
