Calling all FCA/Dealer employees! I want to turn off my DRL's!!!!

I never realized the upper and lower LED bars are considered accent lighting and not part of the DRL, I thought they were the DRL and was wondering why the low beams were always on, I figured if I turned the DRL off the bars and low beam would turn off I never tested it. I had a GMC before this and the LED strips were the DRL. I guess I can turn the DRL off now and not lose my upper and lower LED "accent" lighting

So is there any way to increase the brightness on the 'signature' lights other than accessing the computer? I really like them, but they are washed out in daylight...

According to my shop, it's not configurable. You'll need an aftermarket programmer-dongle.

Welp... I guess given enough time someone could come up with a work around...
its possible the boards and LED controller are not designed to have anymore power put through them. Diode dynamics released a new set of boards with a stand along controller for the GMC it has double the amount of chips switch back and RGB capable and is way brighter than stock. Not super expensive but the down side is having to remove the headlights and open them up to swap out the boards. I'm sure they'll do something similar for the new Ram. Putting a 1000 dollar headlight in the oven to open it up isn't for everybody though.

I'm willing to give many things a go... but I don't know that I'm ready to accidentally bake a $1K headlight...

But it sounds so simple when you read the DIYs on the interwebs. 250 degrees for 15 minutes, Pull it out, wedge a screwdriver between the lens and housing and pry away. if it gets too cool put it back in the oven.

Nope. What you see is what you get (unless someone does some aftermarket pic or similar).
I am happy with the way they are. If you increase intensity, you may start seeing the individual LEDs like on the 2018 Fords, which up until 2017, had the nicer LED band around the headlights, and now that they increased the output, you can see every single LED. Not as nice in my opinion.

Totally agree, this was something I wasn't a fan of when I was looking at a 2018 Lariat. I think the lens choice has a lot to do with it as well. Klearz makes different lenses for just about every manufactures head light LED bars to eliminate that problem. White, clear, frosted, smoked.

Nope... not a fan of that look... wife's Forester lights are plenty bright and still have that smooth 'liquid' look to them... a small nitpick....just wishing is all.

I leave mine off, since the LED strips looks so good by themselves.
They are muted though, so not as bright as other vehicles where the LEDs double as DRLs, and therefore have to be retina-searing bright.

My neighbors were laughing at me. I had my daughter stand in the drive way, recording me on cell, as I rode past her 3 times changing the setting from DRL on and off so I could look at the video to see which I liked best.

I have mine on actually. But I love the accent lights alot

I am laughing also. That's pretty funny.

Cheers,

If there is a 5th Gen owner out there not playing in the dark with a family member filming, I'd be surprised! The new headlights are sexy and I love the overall effect of the whole lighting scheme.
