First off, thanks for this board and all of your contributions. It is a huge benefit.

I have decided to pull the trigger and get a RAM 1500 Big Horn or Laramie. I was originally thinking in Jan or Feb.
However....... I'm feeling anxious and pressured to buy NOW. Which is I am am sure what the FCA team was hoping for.
It is the Employee Pricing incentive.
Is this really a huge deal or just another in a revolving line of incentives that are somewhat close at the end of the day?
If I wait a month or two will I lose out on a great incentive???
Do Jan/Feb typically see smaller incentives/deals than December (end of year)?

Thanks for your help.

Unless you need a truck, it's a very bad time. Used prices are through the roof, and new trucks don't have near the discounts they used to. This is across all brands, the demand for trucks shot up in 2020 and production went down.

Discounts/Rebate suck about right now. Employee Pricing is just marketing. You most likely can score a similar or better deal negotiating on your own. the $1500 bonus offer (pop-up online) helps a big but just isn't enough.

Its the same with GM, Ford, and Nissan. rebates are horrible at year end.

1st - 2nd quarter seems to be the time to buy. Bought mine in April of 2020.... 2019 Bighorn CPO with 16k miles for $28k. That's an unheard of deal for Las Vegas lol!

You could get a deal at the end of December when Sales needs numbers to make quota's. I bought my Challenger on Dec 31st of 2009 and they cut the price big time because they needed the numbers for their quota's so if you dont see a good deal wait them out. Production is way down right now and available stock sucks.

You're definitely not like I am when it comes to buying a vehicle. Once I make the decision to buy there's no relaxing for me. I have lost sleep over it. I don't think I would survive until late winter/early spring if I were to decide right now that I intend to buy a new truck. I'm lucky to make it two weeks LOL. I'm not that way with other purchases. TV's, major appliances, even shopping for a house I have no problem dragging the process out. Just not for a vehicle for some reason. I suppose that's why I've never had one built to order.

If i hadnt bought mine 2 weeks ago my wife would have killed me... I may, may, have talked about which truck I wanted to buy...a lot... for about 6 months... I’m thankful to be a happy truck owner... and alive

I think it depends on the area youre in. I just bought a 2021 limited and between employee pricing and rebates, I was got about $10,000 off the price of the truck.

The Incentives right now are bad compared to pre-covid times.

I honestly doubt they will improve very much in January/February because Covid is still high everywhere and affecting most things.

If you found the truck you love and are happy with the price now, I’d say pull the trigger. If you’re still searching for a truck that matches what you want and/or not happy with the current prices being offered, I don’t think it’ll hurt to wait and see.

You *could* consider placing an order over Christmas or in the Jan/Feb timeframe, as you could negotiate pricing now (invoice is pretty easy to get) and then take advantage of (potentially) improved incentives at delivery. But it's a gamble, and you could probably negotiate an even better price off of in-stock inventory in the spring.

You COULD if the dealer is willing to offer a bigger discount, but the rebates will NOT change before end of year. With "employee pricing" going on, unless the dealer has FCA coupons and willing to give away their holdback, I would not expect to see any bigger deals.

Thanks for the advice.
LOL. Mikeru82, I'm usually like you, however I have a 2018 SRT392 Charger that I LOVE... so trading it in is bittersweet. It's just that I have always been a truck guy and I treat my Charger like a truck. You should have seen the looks I got this summer driving my Charger with 2" clearance on dirt roads. One Forest Service employee stopped me and asked if I REALLY wanted to do this... :)
There is just too much I can't do without a truck in my life though.

Sounds like all bets are off in these unusual times for predicting what waiting will do.... So I'll just find the perfect combination of options and go for it.
Thanks

Relax if you can.

I felt the same way when I traded my 2009 Challenger R/T in for this truck. I really didn't want to get rid of it but they offered me 11k for it and it had 108k miles on it. It still ran like the day i got it when i waved goodbye!

Not sure I agree with a lot of what's being said here as there are GREAT deals to be had now! I saved over $13,000 with the Employee Pricing and additional dealer incentives on my 2021. My trade in value on my 19 Limited was through the roof. For me, the combo of the two made my buying decision a no-brainer :D

Yeah, Im not seeing how some people are saying you can get a lower price later on. I got around $10,000 off with employee pricing and rebates. I've never had that much off a new model year car.

Same! Last Tuesday, I bought a 2021 Limited loaded with almost every option besides split tailgate and technology group. Got $11,600 off and $29k trade in for my 2017 Longhorn with 76k miles!
Live in SW Arkansas

Side note: I found a blindspot with the birds-eye camera yesterday. Drug a mailbox down most of the drivers side backing out of a driveway.
