Biggest Spare Tire that Fits?

I bought a factory 20" rim and a full size tire and it fits. I put the crappy 18" spare in the shed for emergencies.

yeah, the longer bed gives us a little more room. My main goal was to get as close in size to the rest of the wheels/tires without buying a new rim.
I ended up getting the used tire, which was a take-off from another truck, from the tire place we use at work for 20 bucks.....couldn't say no

@rzims What size did you end up using? Was it on the factory spare time?

Does anyone know the RIM width of the factory spare wheel? Looks like an 18" aluminum wheel.

I went to 275/60R20 tires on my RAM 1500 and figured I would just throw a 275/70R18 tire on there as a spare. But I have a feeling the wheel may be narrower than 7" wide.

Tire shop says my 275/65r18 doesn't fit the rim because it's a compact. Said they can't find a taller skinnier tire for me.
Edit: That was wrong. Tire shop double checked and DID fit my OE 275/60R18 Dueler HT on the multi-spoke spare.

I was able to fit a 285/75r18 spare under a 6'4" bed. Tight fit, but doable.

I prob already should know this by the above post but.. 285/65r18 should fit with a good amount of clearance right? i only got the 5 7" bed

The extra length of the 6'4" bed is in front of the rear wheel wells.

Well I got my 285/65r18 on today seems like it fits perfectly with plenty of spaces. Only thing is I have the valve cap facing the floor instead of the oem style of the wheel facing upward. Prob will rotate it tomorrow. But then again I guess having it this way will make checking the air or what's not in it easier hmm

The reason it's the other way from factory is to prevent damage to face of wheel from road debris, and also chance of breaking valve stem off from road debris, or offroading.

i fit a 295/70/18 in there which is bigger, should be no problem.

Little late to this conversation- I was able to fit a 295 70 18 method wheel / toyos ATIII as a spare. It a very tight fit but it fits - 1/4 of inch distance from the tire to the pan bar- but the metal shield keeps the tire from hitting it.

I just put on a set of TRX wheels and tires last week. I noted a couple of sellers were selling all 5 full sized wheels and tires as a set, so the TRX must fit that size of tire. I’m really not sure they would fit on the standard 1500.

My spare is now 3” smaller diameter than my tires, which probably isn’t a great scenario!

Probably, if not just a bit higher. My truck is an ORP, which I believe is 1” over normal Ram height all around. I also put a level kit on the front, so I’m sure I’m roughly 3” higher than a stock Ram without ORP.

I see a lot of guys running 34 and 35 inch tires, curious what you are doing for a spare and what will fit under there?

I just changed my tires and wheels. Added 17” AEV wheels and 315/70R17 BFG A/T KO2 tires. The wheel size is 34.4” x 12.4” wide. Fits under just fine with a small amount of push from underneath fully inflated. I did not add any lift and I have no rub during turning. Not sure I would have wanted to go larger because I needed it to fit underneath. I believe one could get a 35” underneath by airing down the spare but could rub Ft tires unless having a lift.

Well, I suppose for some folks. For me, I air my tires down and up when traveling and exploring places, getting in the sand, mud, rocks, snow, etc, so I have a on board compressor wired in to get ’em back up to needed pavement PSI. Would not be a problem.
