Anyone get their loud “clank” on startup fixed? For what it’s worth, I’ve started my truck for the last 10 times in a row using the keyfob, and it hasn’t made the sound once! Based on this, I’m assuming the clank then is somehow related to using the start/stop button in the cab. Anyone with knowledge of how these systems work have any theories?

Finally someone with my exact problem! If I start in the cab it clunks but if I remote start no noise. So now I’ve become religious about remote starting. I haven’t read anywhere on a resolution. Do you have any thoughts on why remote to start doesn’t clunk but start/stop does. I’ve spent many hours pondering this but cannot come up with anything. I did think it could be something with the brake pedal already depressed and the tranny already ready to go into gear? Not sure but anyone’s thoughts would be appreciated. Also is it bad to remote start 100% of the time?

I don’t see why remote starting would be bad...a start is a start. Re a theory on what’s going on, I don’t know. I’m not a mechanical guy. The clear difference would be that you’re not in your truck to press on the brake pedal. Now, there may be another difference, but that’s where I need a knowledgeable mechanic on here to explain what might be going on.

FYI, there’s an F150 forum where the exact same thing is going on! I joined their forum and stated my issues over there as well. Seems like some kind of issue with the start/stop button technology in these trucks, and how it relates to the brake/transmission/torque converter/blah blah blah...

Could you share the link? I have read about this problem with the tranny we have that are also in BMWs.

Hi mjharden and kmck94,
We understand why this would be concerning. We suggest having your dealers look into this. Please send us a private message if you would like any additional assistance while your trucks are at the dealers.

The exhaust tip will take you longer to get a ratchet and socket than to fix. It's on a balljoint, loosen the bolt, position where you want, tighten the bolt, super simple.

Try turning down your bass a little, that should help with the vibration. I have the 8.4 non-nav in my Big Horn, it has crazy bass for a non sub woofer system.

I would also get under the truck and look between the bed and cab to see what is rattling. I can't imagine it's actually the drop in bed liner. When my drop in was installed, it actually quieted down a slight rattle my bed had.

Remember, people typically don't go to forums to brag about how good a product is, normally, only how bad it is. This is a great truck, while it may have some issues, it is leaps and bounds over the 18 in refinement. It is also a 1st yr redesign, so bugs are expected.

I guess my point is, you've had it for a week, sounds like your issues are easily fixable, don't let them discourage you on your new purchase!
