For those of you with trifold covers, here is my solution. My bike is not one I'm going to lay down in the bed, and I was planning on bolting a rail to the back of the bed. This allows me to keep my cover on, mount 3 bikes (I'll never have more than 3 that I don't want to lay down), and close my tailgate. Only issue is I have to take my bed extender out if I close the tailgate.

So far so good. I've had 2 bikes on it at once going 75-80 mph on the interstate. I did run a snug (not tight) ratchet strap from the front hooks through the bike frames for added security, and nothing even moved. I need to make a quick and easy wheel holder since I usually take a set of spare wheels with me to races.

Hook me up with a picture of your design! When I'm going to a local ride, I put the bike on a 2X6 via fork mount, and the wheel in the cab. I'd love an option to put the wheel(s) in the cab under the tonneau if the bike is on the rack and/or in the cab.

As an aside, I added another skewer to a 2X6 in the cab that fits under the seat for storage. Lets me store/transport the bike safely in the cab when I need to keep it out of the elements or for added security. Have not tested it yet, just did it over the weekend.

Look at the thread I posted. I was going to put my pictures in again, but figured that was easier. Several pics in there.

I was able to get my Yakima rack to work with a little modification. I dropped the handle location by 3/4” and sunk the hitch 1/2” deeper in the receiver.

I know this is a bit of an old thread but I finally updated my setup and wanted to show what I did. I couldn't find the exact setup I wanted so I just pieced it together. I wanted a retractable tonneau cover with the T slot rails built in so I could mount crossbars for bikes/skis/etc. The problem is there are not a lot of options for that if you have the Rambox option.

I ended up with:
Gator Gatortrax cover
Rhino Rack RT style rivet mount tracks - 58" long
Rhino Rack Quick Mount Legs for Vortex bars
Rhino Rack Vortex bars - 49" long
Thule Upride bike rack - got a great deal on FB Marketplace

This setup is easy to take on and off and the 49" bars are the perfect length where I can still open the Ramboxes fully. The Gator cover also has a perfect space for attaching the tracks to so that I riveted to the tonneau cover and not the actual truck so I didn't have to drill any holes in the truck.

I haul around 2 mountain bikes. I stand them up along each side with a ratchet strap and use a cut pool noodle for padding at contact points

No pics on my new truck yet but will be exactly the same. Thule bike rack with tilt to access the bed. I can put two bikes on and remove within a minute. Very easy and secure attachment and can leave my truck bed available for other gear if I’m road tripping somewhere.

Hitch mounted rack for 2 bikes. This particular model can swing away from the truck, allowing the tailgate to drop without removing the bikes from the rack.

I’ve now got two set ups depending on race or just a ride situation:

1 fork mount 2x4 that doesn’t take up too much space

2 my KUAT NV or Sherpa with Pivot so I can access the tailgate. Pivot was the best money I’ve ever spent.

On occasion it goes in the cab, I keep a 2x6 with a fork skewer under the seat in case I need it.

This is awesome, might have to do this. Been wanting to figure out a solution for my Ramboxes with retractable cover with support for mounting racks. I take it no issue retracting the cover while bikes mounted?

Forget the truck! I want the Cervelo, perhaps the Felt too! I've got a 2012 Felt AR2 as my daily rider. I almost got an S5, but liked the Felt a bit better. Also those wheels! I'm still riding the OEMs on mine. Beautiful bikes!

None at all. So far the setup has been awesome.
