Best tonneau covers for dads?

How did you adhere the weather stripping? Any issues with the adhesion?

Whenever I install anything with adhesive I always first clean the area well with rubbing alcohol. Then I peel the adhesive paper and warm the adhesive with a heat gun (hair dryer if you don’t have heat gun). That will make the adhesive nice and tacky. Then apply. Push it thoroughly in all areas. Warm the entire area, edges, etc. Continue to press. That should give you really solid adhesion.

I know the title is odd but my wife and I are expecting our first born in June, and we plan on using the truck more than our Cherokee for obvious room differences and my question is this, which tonneau is best for fathers who are storing strollers and other baby items in your bed? I’m torn between the roll up ba the tri fold soft on fastest way to get everything loaded while maintaining peace with the Mrs. and the little one. Comments and feedback please?

First, congrats on the baby and best of luck. If you have 2 grand (or more) to spend I’d get a cap. ARE and Leer now make a few different options for the new body 19’s. You’ll get the most space and no leaks. But since you specifically stated tonneau, spend some more time searching this forum. Like my own Mopar hard tri fold (made by Bak), A LOT of them leak in heavy rain. Especially by the tailgate where a lot of your stuff will be unless you plan on climbing in to get at it all the time. Mine leaks in the front, back and sides! (I took it off today to try to figure out why it let’s so much rain in, but that’s for another thread). Hard tri folds are secure, and most can hold a couple hundred pounds on top evenly distributed (like snow for example) and are very easy to open, use, take on and off. But if you have tall cargo like a big stroller thats higher than the bed, then the cover has to be all the way open to the cab while you drive or else the folds will be flopping all over on every bump. Also with some (mine) you lose visibility out of the rear window when fully open bc it folds up to the cab.

Soft covers cost the least and are fine, unless someone really wants that $200 stroller.

I know I haven’t really given you a direct answer but they all have advantages and disadvantages. Really depends on your specific needs and budget of course. I will remind you that folding part of the rear seat up will give you a good amount of floor space for some of the baby stuff. Oh and put the car seat on the passenger side so you’re not taking the kid in and out into the roadway with cars driving by.

Hello again everyone!

First off I wanted to thank everyone for their inputs and also for the many congratulations we got on our first born, were both excited to be making the next step as a couple, we’ve chose to wait over the last 8 years while the Mrs was in nursing school but now that she’s graduating in May we decided it was time to start our family!, now I did decide on the gator soft trifold cover for my ram, the wife and I both liked it and thought it looked nice and from the cost standpoint especially after buying the truck we couldn’t really argue with it. I just got it installed today along with my factory Mopar mud guards. Thank you again everyone for the help!
