So while I was looking at the belltech 2/4 drop, I decided to contact them to see if they were in works on a kit for 19. Still awaiting response, but it got me thinking. So I went to mopar parts and I came across some interesting information, it turns out the springs and shocks are the same part number back to 2013. That could possibly mean we can use 4th gen components. Thoughts?

Also kind of on topic, I just got off the phone with crown suspension and they’re in works of a lowering kit as well. From my research, please correct me if I’m wrong, but the 5th uses the same springs as the 4th gen. The rep from crown said the difference is weight. I also just looked that up and it’s essentially the same. Crown has a decent selection of lowering springs for the 4th gens ( well they say 09 and up ). Which leaves the thought, are we over looking a huge possibility cuz it’s not labeled “2019”?

I may be mistaken but the lowering kits designated for the ‘09 and up including the 2019 are referring to the ‘19 ”1500 Classic” which is basically a 4th gen. The front suspension on the 5th gen is completely different than the 4th gen i believe.

I can’t speak for the 19 classic, but when I looked up springs and shocks for oem replacement the same part number came up. I obviously could also be looking at it all wrong, just attempting to think outside the box.

Aren’t all 5th gen trucks using struts up front now? The 2/4wd models are the same now I thought like every other truck?

Is that wrong? It’s still a coil spring setup?

I just verified via mopar factory parts that 2wd uses coil and shock separate set up and 4wd uses shock strut coil combo set up. I’ll look at my truck when I get off work. But that makes me wonder if I can either swap (crown 4th gen lowering spring) or do a minor cut to drop the front a hair.

For some reason I had it in my mind they changed it. In that case, I imagine the springs would work.

Is this legit or just a typo?!! The front adjustable lowering struts can be purchased separately also...

Lol so they did change it?

The lowering strut seems more in line with what I expected to see here. Also Inez already makes control arm drops for these trucks. check them out.

Yea they did change it lol and I’m liking the 0-3” front and 4” rear drop option. I’m not trying to go as low as 3/5 or 4/6 but they are good looking kits.

Finally got my Maxtrac kit on and I'm super happy with the way it looks! I only have about 25 miles on it since the install but I'd say the ride is very comparable to the GF 2/3 on my 4th gen. It did bottom out once on the way home with the bump stop trimmed as the instructions show. I have helper bags but I haven't competed running the lines so no air in them yet. My plan is to cut off the bump stop cups and add a stubby 1" screw in style. I hope to have enough clearance for daily driving and the helpers will be used when I haul my boat or load the bed.

Install was fairly straightforward but I have some experience with lowering 4th gens, so that helped. The pictures in the instructions could be a little larger, especially for the rear upper shock bushing orientation. I chose to not follow the directions on the front and left the lower control arms where they were and removedthe uppers instead. I knew I wasn't going to be able to get it aligned until this weekend so I figured not getting the camber/caster all out of whack from side to side was my best bet. Truck drove straight, even with the tires toed out a little.

Front strut is set on 5th groove down from the top (2.5"), rear was installed as it comes. Actual drop was 2- 5/8" in the front and rear was 3.75". Front is 1/2" lower than the rear, for what I consider a perfect daily driver rake.

I'll add some updates after I get the bump stops cut off and some more miles on it. Getting snow today so won't be getting anything done for the next couple days. Lowered 4x4 FTW!

Looks sick! I can’t wait to get my kit and install it. I’ll also be installing helper bags in early spring. I’m hoping to be that close to level with my 2wd crew cab.

when I get bags, it’ll be the airlift 5k kit, 53735 or something like that.
