I just put the velcro directly on the metal, just below the plastic tailgate cover. It is holding really well and lays nice and flat. They are sending me the correct J-Clip, but I don't think I'm going to use it.
I just installed mine today and attached the Velcro directly to the metal directly below the plastic tailgate cover. Was I supposed to use the j track?

Is this still holding along the top edge of the tailgate okay? I'm installing mine tomorrow and thinking of doing the same. I have a Lomax cover and am concerned that the extra thickness will interfere with tailgate operation. The YouTube video by RealTruck shows this as an alternate way to install also. They did add some adhesive promoter on the ends of the plastic factory tailgate cap, but otherwise, it's installed just as you described (without the J-channel).

No issues on mine without the J-clip....

I also attached the Velcro directly to the tailgate with no issues. I’m actually using the j-channel as a trim piece on the end of the tailgate liner. I think it gives it a bit more of a finished look? IDK. Hasn’t fallen off yet! I’ve had it on there for a few months.

Looks great Moosem,,I installed the bed rug on my fathers 4 th gen Ram. I was skeptical of fit and how it would hold up. I will say it still looks great after 4 years. It is a much better option than those plastic bedliners

Really like the look of the Bed Rug. Kind of wish that I would have gotten that instead of the RAM drop in liner, even though I am very happy with that!
