Bad fuel mileage 5.7 hemi

I pulled the battery for nearly an hour and it was a no go. It did nothing.

I can't help but to call ******** on some of these reported gas mileage claims. Like 26mpg? Really? You'll have to prove that too me with more than some pic on some forum and I really don't care what your "Fuelly" app says. Not that you have to prove anything too me. But don't make claims like this and not think it will be questioned.

I can see 18 or even 19mpg. But nothing more! Unless you really are the guy who drives around at 15mph under the speed limit in the passing lane during rush hour. While never driving up hill or giving your truck more pedal to keep it going. I liken these types of claims to fanboyism.

Dang! Calm down. If you don't like the claims, ignore them. Who cares at the end of the day? Or continue to get upset when someone claims good gas mileage, whatever. Towards the end of your post you said "I can see 18 or even 19mpg..", however in an earlier post you called BS of @slimchance for the same mileage. Yes, i know there are ways to pad MGPs on fuelly but @slimchance is nothing but helpful on this forum and I doubt has any motivation to mislead just feel good. Take the posts at face value and stop calling BS on every post you don't like.

I am sure this post will also trigger you but have a great day anyways.

You are incorrect.

I called BS on his claim of 18mpg while pulling a trailer and the reason I've just called BS again is because the people making these claims are the people coming in here insulting the rest of us for getting lower gas mileage and saying something about it.

Last I checked this is a free forum to post in. It's not locked or open for only certain members. Meaning I can call BS on anything I want. So get used too it or STFU.

The 26 mpg claim is likely just an "instead readout"; ie, what you're getting exactly at that point in time. I've had 24 MPG in my tester truck by reading instant readout, not that hard at all. Straight country road, doing 80 km/h, no hills, moderate breeze. But that will never be the true MPG you get between fill ups, because "instant" doesn't account for acceleration which is likely 90% of the weight when calculating true MPG between tanks.

Sorry, I don't get triggered. Waste of time, as are your posts.

I agree. It is easy to reset and then look at the average mileage and it looks quite good because you either don't have many miles on or it has been strictly coasting or highway or something. It will definitely average out in the end.

Someone in this post is lying on their Fuelly app or they got some fat fingers...

No way you'd get over 800 miles on a tank or anything over 30 MPG.

Hey, they could have coasted all the way down from the peak of the rockies. Haha! That's a good find. They probably just missed a fill up in between each of those with 40mpg

Yeah. I like to take a peak at some people's Fuelly link just to see. Who knows what actually happened though. I input mine every time I get gas and make sure everything is accurate. Unfortunately for me, it is :(.

Yeah, I hear ya.

I’m actually not upset about my mileage, I don’t care that much or I would have made a different life choice.

Now you are saying that higher ethanol blends are yielding MORE MPG?
yep .... i am saying i run E 15 88 octane every time i can find it and around here it is easy to find AND i am saying i have a 392 rear and eTorque, that all the enlighten ones that don't have it say does not yield mpg ..... 19Reb probably is NOT going to call me to testify for his EPA Ram law suit ..... i could also post pixs of the gas receipts but i am sure he has a smart *** answer for those also .... most people on these forums can keep an open mind, but then it takes a mind to be open ... i am tired of his intelligent rebuttals ... take it or leave it those are the FACTS ... some more false facts .... a pix of my wife's trk today ... note the total mileage on the odometer ... now look at the range to empty and the trip odometer and evac avg mpg on that tank .. did not get a chance to hand calculate it yet because i get good enough mpg to wait for next fill up20190501_080125_resized.jpg20190501_080125_resized.jpg

Just fueled up.. 87 Oct. 15.4 mpg.

Would it be nice if it was better, yes. But still better than my 13 tundra double cab 5.7.(rock warrior, 4.10 rear end)

Nice one! I'm usually happy if I'm in the 15s

I would be ecstatic with 15mpg. As long as it's 15mpg hand calculated. We really can't trust what the dash says, at least I can't anyway. There's a 2mpg difference.

Best I've managed so far was a 129 mile trip between fill ups, most of it country roads, at 18.7 MPG hand calculated. Average is 17.4. Truck computer is usually within 5%, but more optimistic. I drive my truck pretty conservatively, use aero mode, and try to get the best MPG I can. I only have 1,600 miles so far though, just switched to full synthetic oil, and cold weather remote starts were killing my mileage. Hopefully it improves as I add miles and things warm up.

So I can get 18 on the instant on flat ground at this speed, with the ~4k lb enclosed U-Haul. But speed up to 65, 13ish like my average there, and 75 it drops down to like 10.

But then like getting on I-10 in LA, the road sucks, seems like it’s up a grade the whole time. I had to slow down to 58 for over an hour, at 65 I was getting 10. Even 60, like 11 ish. Dropped those two more to 58 and 13/14.

But it tows pretty well.

I am getting what I would consider poor gas mileage as well, but the truck's only at 1300 miles and probably needs a couple more thousand to get much better. I am averaging between 13.5 and 15, but the first week was 9-10 (and I was even more light footed then).

As to the 4WD / 4-Auto concern, I get some slight vibration and whirring noises on turns and light acceleration in 4Auto, which I've written off as normal clutch noise in the transfer case. In 4Hi it is significantly more noticeable, but with actual binding on turns - so the 4Auto does seem to somewhat release tension on turns compared to 4Hi.
I hope you aren't running in 4 High on pavement. Damage WILL occur.

Thank you for the reply. The rare instance when I am in 4-wheel of any kind, it is 4Auto (even offroad). While in a muddy field, I put it in 4 High to give it a test, and could feel a bit of extra drag on the system compared with 4 Auto.

Just bought my 2019 sport with 5.7, 8 speed and 3.21’s. Lowest i saw in my fuel display was 10.9L/100kms which is 21.5mpg which was in a 90kmh zone and i was going 95kmh. Once out of that zone and in a 110kmh zone, i was averaging 11.2L/100kms which is 21mpg. That was a 1100km trip with about 1000kms of it being highway but about 300kms being mountain passes, so alot of downshifting with the 3.21’s

First two tanks I am averaging 18.3mpg. Have 800 miles on the odometer.
