Back up camera problem

Just bought this rebel today I was so happy but when I got home the back up camera is having big problems .. is this common problem?

Not common but it has happened to a couple of members. There seems to be two reasons and as far as repairs some have cameras replaced and others the other head units. Welcome to the forum and please keep us informed as to which resolved your problem.

It work perfectly fine this morning when I turn on my truck. I don’t know should I bring it back to the dealership to check it out.

I wouldn't unless it happens again. If they can't replicate, you'll be wasting your time (and risk them screwing something else up)...

Happened to me. Took pics of when it was malfunctioning (only happened twice) and went to the dealership. They found it had thrown a code and they immediately ordered a new camera for me.

I also had it happen twice in the same day and then never again since. That was a couple of weeks ago. I took some pics and will show the dealer on the next oil change and see what they say. There wasn’t anything interring going on when it happened. Wasn’t really cold or anything.

Same here. No extreme weather conditions.

There was a couple of times when the camera wouldn't turn on when backing up. Which happened a few times on my F150, the fix for that truck was to close the tail gate a little firmer, which fixed it everytime.

However with the RAM that didn't fix the issue. It fixed itself the next day and hasn't happened again.

I’ve owned my ‘19 Rebel for almost 6 months now. I had the same issue a few months ago, but the camera has yet to do it again. Last week however when I put it in reverse I just got a completely blank screen. That lasted for several startups over the course of about 2 hours, then it went back to working fine. Odd. I’ll definitely keep an eye on it and if it occurs again I’ll bring her in. Thanks everyone for the information and good luck.

So far my haven’t have any problems after the first night when I brought her home. But yesterday the stop and go system services light turn on for an hour than it work again after a few startups.

Now that the cold weather is here in the northeast this happens to mine every cold morning. It's actually quite dangerous as the cameras are part of the advanced safety package etc. My dealer, being the quality customer focused dealer they are, said they all do that... and won't do anything about it.
