Tried searching but no luck, seems noone has had to replace their front axle other than warranty fixes.

2019 Ram Rebel, 55k miles, 5.7, 2.5 level, 35x12 tires.

Seems that my axle boot gave out and slinged the grease everywhere and now I have your usual axle clunks.

Did a google search for axles and tons of results, anybody got any advice as to where to purchase from? Normally I'd just go Autozone but they don't seem to have the axle itself.

Any tips? I've done axles before so not a complete newb to it but tips never hurt.

Also, I saw online something about the a smaller axle piece? Picture attached. This piece I am not familiar with but based on my pictures, I don't think that's bad and I'm pretty sure just the axle needs to be replaced.

My passenger side did the same thing. The boot still looks fine, band clamp is tight. I cleaned all the grease up and hasn't flung anymore. Drivers side has a small amount of grease flung, but not as much as the passenger side did, and that's been since i first noticed the passenger side. No weird noises, still drives fine. I do have some chirping when applying the brakes. But wouldnt associate that with CV joint.

I'd go Trackmotive since you're lifted

In case you need it. I was told by trakmotive that this was the xtended travel part number for Ram 1500 P# CH-86010XTT

Thanks for the links! I couldn't find anything on YouTube and the trakmotive site wasn't loading for me!

I'm in the same boat, torn cv boot on drivers axle. I'm at 71k and am thinking about just knocking out both axles. How did this go? Has anyone else done it?

Have you done an axle replacement before? It's what'd you'd expect. Hardest part was getting the axle to shimmy out and sticking the new one in. It let go from the diff pretty easily but it was tricky getting it to shimmy out.

I was at about 55k.

Another thing to check out, the intermediate or shorts shafts.. They install dry and some have had issues/play with them.

Oh yeah, I had a minor issue... I somehow bent the brake dust cover behind the rotor and on initial drive I had a terrible scratching noise 😅 watch out for that

I got mine from RockAuto.

Might want to check your stub shaft while you're in there.. they are a common failure point on these trucks.

I have, I suppose I was nervous after watching that video and having the dealership tell them they couldn't get the axle out.

I went ahead and ordered the intermimediate shaft as well, as I live in hell (rustbelt) and don't want to run into another possible issue

EDIT: installed today, no issues. Very straightforward like any other cv axle. Not sure why the issue with the passenger side?

Drive side slips out.. it’s short. Passenger side does not slip out. You need to remove half of the front differential or the full differential to do properly. You can get away with just removing the portion where the FDS goes, from what I’m told and looking into now. Made my own post about this. The passenger side is a bit of hell… most cases the stub shaft needs to get replaced. The splines on the stubs will start to round where these should be about square, not rounded. Pictures below is the drivers and the longer is passenger. As you can see, that won’t slide out.

Passenger side is supposed to slip out as well. If it gets rusted, it won't release, which is when you have to tear apart the differential

Slip off the stub shaft… but stub shaft does not slip out like drivers side. No disassemble required for the to slip off the stub shaft… where as you need to remove half the diff to pull passenger stub. Both CV axles attach to the stub shafts. If that clears anything up. lol.

Wish we just had Allen bolts holding the front shafts like Chevy and Ford.

Cause I wrote that response like a 8 year old child learning to write. Hahahaha sorry… but yes.. then I see someone posted a good video on that. I’m ready to do the same as in that video. I’m trying to confirm the internal stub shafts are the same between the generations now. It’s looking like so… and mopar in the sneaky way they do stuff, list the driver side as different part numbers and cost. But looking closely it’s as if they added the slinger with the stub all in one part trying to cause confusion, where as early years you buy stub and slinger separately.
