AT&T Hotspot stopped working

My thread is here. For a paid service, I was pretty unhappy with how poorly this went down and I to had it fixed by just unplugging the battery for a day. The dealer said they couldn't trouble shoot it. AT&T thanked me for my $200 12 month payment and said they recommend I go to a dealer so if your hotspot stops working..you're 100% on your own and there's no one out there who can help you.

So yep, unplug the battery for 24 hours and it's worked ever since.
I like the fuse pull better (personally) than battery trick for 24 hours but that certainly is likely more accessible than removing that panel and pulling the fuse. : )
Another great suggestion though and I appreciate it a lot!!

PULLING THE FUSE WORKED!
I removed the two 7mm bolts form the panel under the steering wheel and pulled that out enough to get my puller in there. F44 on the right was the 'Radio' fuse as indicated in the Owners manual. I pulled it out for 200 seconds (no reason for that number other than it w as about 3 minutes), popped the fuse back in and started the truck.
Now, the hotspot, the traffic is flowing and I pull a proper public IP that is AT&T owned and the speed tests work now where they never connected before when it was busticated! : )

The ONLY thing to note that I had never seen before is that on the starting of the pickup, the radio turned RED and proclaimed it was LOCKED.
I backed the pickup out into the driveway and fiddled with the radio and settings to check them all out and then did a soft reset (Power and ENTER knob buttons password for 20 seconds) and it rebooted and returned to normal operational mode. It is possible that on the next start of the truck it would have returned too.

Summary - pulled internal F44 20A fuse for 200 seconds and replaced. Started the pickup and tested hotspot functionality. Soft reset the radio.
Confirmed that this worked for me as well!! Frickin fuse pull - much thanks for flushing this out. Was dreading the trip to the stealership.)

If you have a TazerDT you can do a full reboot which fixes all kinds of problems with the radio and wifi. Especially after a low or dead battery. Missing uconnect buttons, fixed it in a minute rather than waiting overnight for the to "return".

Thanks for the suggestion. My Wifi also stopped working (connected, no internet). I talked to ATT tech support, NoJoy, 'go to dealer'....but I'm on a hunting trip, and no proximity to a dealership nor the patience. I did the UConnect Reset, and it did not actually respond. I could not find a fuse that appeared to correspond to the Infotainment system. I found your post, disconnected the battery for about 10 minutes, and WiFi resumed working after the hard reboot.

Glad it’s working now. Pretty frustrating. I don’t have kids but I can’t imagine being on a cross-country road trip in the family-trucker and having 2-3 kids in the back on iPads that can’t play their video games or watch youtube. I’d be pretty upset. It is a paid serVice.

Here is an interesting response from UConnect "Connected Services" I received this morning on my case....

"After speaking with our specialist they recommend having a STAR case opened at the dealership. This allows for more testing/troubleshooting with the dealership and the engineering team while we also investigate further on our end."

I have never had to go to the dealership for this pickup (yet) and feel like this is a run around. Does one just waltz into the service department and say, "I have WiFi issues and UConnect said you need to open a STAR case for this issue on my pickup." ?!?!

I am sure they'd need to keep the pickup for a WHILE and lord knows what that means, I probably get a nice 4 cylinder Chrysler 200 to putz around in for 3 months with no resolve.
I wish I had higher expectations of my dealership service department, but I have been disappointed by them (and others) in the past with my 2008 Cummins.

Thoughts?
Maybe I just drop it since the fuse pull is a quick fix... Just let it be and move on?
What would you do?

I just go this same problem. It's -15*F out, not really feeling like freezing my buns off right now. I will wait until it warms up later this week and try pulling the fuse.

How did it go? Are you back online after the F44 fuse pull/reset?

Lovely. Mid day the symptom returned. I was using it before lunch. Came out of lunch and the WiFi did t turn on (no indicator on the head unit) so I soft reset the radio unit (press vol/power and tune/browse/enter buttons for 20 seconds) and the WiFi returned BUT my phone and devices connect and no longer pass traffic (no internet connection.)

So, when I get home in a bit I will pull the fuse again and see what the result is.

12/10/2021 was when I first pulled the fuse and today is 1/21/2022
42ish days it worked.

Mine stopped working again, a little more than a month after doing the battery disconnect dance last time. Same experience as JDGRN77.

Pulled the fuse - reset the connection and all is well again. I will use this forum to sort of keep track of the timing on it. 41 days last time and I think I reset it again on 1/24. Let the countdown begin! :)

I had this same issue with my 2020 12in Ucconect, after my year contract was over with ATT, I dropped the service. With it being slow and not working sometimes, not worth the $200 for the year.

My wife has a Yukon and the ATT Wifi hot spot is fantastic, no issues, Ram software engineers need to step up their game.

DId the battery disconnect for this exact same issue. Is now currently working (battery disconnect was easier for me than the fuse).

Hi everyone. I am brand new to this forum and let me just say...it was a bear getting my account verified. I couldn't email the admin (kept getting bounced back), and they couldn't email me. But I'm here now!

I just purchased a certified pre-owned 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie with the Harman Kardon "19 speaker" sound system. My first impression was, "This stereo sucks." I was digging around google for solutions to that problem when all of a sudden my WiFi hotspot stopped working. I called AT&T. They blamed FCA. My local FCA dealer said it's because AT&T discontinued support of 3G technology. AT&T said the dealer was dumb and all they needed to do was a "hard reboot of the radio". I literally listened to them argue with each other while on a 3-way call that AT&T initialized. It was entertaining. Also sort of sad.

So then I find this posting (and I was finally verified! Yay!) and think to myself, "This fuse pulling business looks like an easy attempt at a fix. I'll try it". I grab a 7mm socket, some channel lock pliers (I don't have a fancy fuse puller) and head to the truck. 30 seconds later I have the fuse out and set a countdown timer for 200 seconds. So I waited. Then I put the fuse back in - after verifying that it wasn't blown - and started the truck.

Much to my surprise, not only is the wireless hotspot working but the stereo now sounds different! Maybe not better, but LOUDER. Like, a lot louder. There may even be additional dynamic headroom in both the lower and upper frequencies. It gives me hope that I can find some crazy combination of equalizer/surround/settings on my phone that might make it sound decent without blowing massive cash to add/replace some things.

I had no idea I was getting a 2-for-1 fix when I read this thread, but that's what I got. HUGE thank you!!!

I too have lost internet - I put a switch in line with fuse 44. Now I just cycle the power (with the truck shut off) and I'm good to go every time. Shutting the truck off keeps the head unit from doing the goofy things that require the soft reset.

I don’t suppose you took pictures of your install you’d care to share?
