Anyone else getting a “tailgate open” warning upon startup?

Thanks. It's been on for 3 days now, she closed it once, I closed it last night (we never open the tailgate). She's going to drive it this morning so I will find out if it's still an issue. Since I haven't seen anyone talk about it, could just be a sensor not aligned just right. Hi tech stuff can be annoying for sure.

I have to close mine kind of hard to prevent that warning.
I always assumed it was because of the tonneau cover or Bedrug, as I installed both shortly after buying the truck.

I don't have any of that... but we will see if it comes back.
I will say that this is the only glitch I've had with all the electronics. The transmission bump on downshift TSB was applied a couple months ago, other than that this has been a trouble-free truck. I know some members have had much more serious issues but as for me (only 2700 miles), everything is as designed and the gas mileage is also as per the sticker, even though this wasn't the tested barebones 4x2 quad cab truck...

Happened a few days ago. Got out and opened and closed it. Hasn’t happened since.
EVERY time my better half closes the tailgate, I get the warning. Finally told her it's okay to give it a good push closed.
May have been the many times I've perked up when she shut her door after letting her in the passenger side. She didn't want to get that look I guess with the tailgate too.

My salesman told me before I purchased mine you have to give the tailgate a slam from right in the middle or you get that message. If I shut mine by flipping it shut from the side I always get that, even though the tailgate sounds like and looks like it shut securely.

LOL, I had no idea the new RAM had the "tailgate ajar" warning screen until I was taking the 2nd truck on a 2nd test drive... and the dealer guy who put their plate on it didn't latch it right. I was pleased to see it, and closing it firmly (or with gusto, if you prefer) made the warning go away. Hasn't happened since.

Next time you get the warning, look at the top right side of the tailgate before you open and close it. You will see that the tailgate is up, but the right side is not completely closed. Happens every time my wife closes my tailgate.

Got it. It was fine for her yesterday though not sure why it was on in the 1st place as we haven't opened the tailgate in a month. No matter, its off now.
